Commentary By: Gordon King
Are you feeling lost, lonely, and in despair? Do you feel as though there is no hope, that the trials you are going through are just too much to bear? You’re not alone, many of us are experiencing the same feelings, and most if not all of us will go through very difficult times in our lives.
Life often seems unfair, and there will be times when we suffer from loss and emotional distress, from pain and suffering, times when we are broken to the point of utter despair. It’s not a matter of if we will suffer in this life, it’s a question of when? It will happen there is no doubt in my mind, yet some of us will suffer more than others, not all will endure the same depths of pain and suffering that others will.
So, what do we do, where do we go, and whom do we seek? Many of us have tried doctors, counselors, and others in the secular world with no real help. Perhaps there is some relief, but in the end it’s just not enough! And although many of these professionals do offer some relief, they cannot ultimately pull us out of the desperation and hopelessness that we find ourselves in.
The only way to find true hope, to relieve us of our pain and suffering is through Jesus Christ. We are all born with a void inside of us, a space which needs to be filled. This space is reserved for God, it must be filled with Jesus Christ before we can truly begin to feel hope, peace, and comfort. Many of us attempt to fill this void with other things such as sex, a spouse, children, a job, money, sports, drugs and alcohol, or by acquiring more wealth. Yet none of these things can do it, in fact many of them will lead to destruction if they are done without following biblical values and are made the number one priority in your life, when they become idols. While they may seem to be making you feel better, they can in fact make you feel much worse over time. Some will seek gods of this world, unholy spirits, mediums, psychics, and engage in things which are sins and abominations to God Almighty!
The same is true for all sin, if we allow ourselves to be consumed with sin then it will be to our demise. The wages of sin is death, there is no positive or beneficial value to it! Trying to fill the void in your heart with worldly things is a sin and cannot be done, it is a lie from Satan believing that a person can. The void is like a vacuum, trying to suck in whatever comes in its path. This is where people err, when they try to fill this void with things that only God can.
So you may be asking yourself what in the world does this have to do with being lonely, depressed, and feeling hopeless?! Well, it has everything to do with it! Without God we are doomed for disaster, without God we have no hope, no joy, no real peace, nothing which will not be burned up for all of eternity. Jesus Christ will give us peace, comfort, and hope! He is the Prince of Peace, the Light of the world, and the only way to heaven! He is our friend, our comforter, our provider, our Savior and our Lord. The things of God and heaven above will last forever, these are the things which really matter, these are the things which will give us real peace, hope, and joy!
By accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you will be given a new spirit and become a new creation, with a new heart and a renewed mind.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Ezekiel 36:26-27
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. “
Do not be deceived into believing that the things of this world can give you true peace and joy, this is a demonic lie! I am not saying that we cannot get help from doctors, medications, counseling, of course we can, but we need to know and be aware of where this help is coming from, it comes from the Lord! God uses people from all walks of life, from all professions to help other people, He also uses medications, but these things of and by themselves are not enough.
If you are suffering through a trial, then seek God, believe that Jesus Christ is God, that He was both a man and God, that He came into this world to die on the cross and shed His blood for our sins, as a payment for all of our sin debt that we owe. Believe that He died and was buried in a tomb for three days, then arose and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. Repent of yours sins and accept Christ as your Lord and Savior! Do these things and a heavy weight will be lifted from you, a comfort and peace like no other will fill your very being.
God did not come into this world to condemn it but to save it! Jesus came so that you may have life and have it more abundantly. He is the living water, the fountain of life, He is light, love, and peace, He is eternal life! Everything good comes from God, and if we truly seek to have real peace and comfort then we must accept Him as our Savior.
You must also be aware that even though you may be saved, you will still suffer trials in life. You will still have tribulations, and you will suffer persecution. But, you will also have eternal life, peace, and comfort! You will have hope, the hope of eternal life, the hope of Jesus coming back to take you home, you’re real home, heaven! God will be with you at all times, He will sustain you and protect you, He will be there with you during all of your trials, and He will give you the strength and courage to carry on!
He will send angels to protect you and to minster to you. He will surround you with mighty angels, He will perform miracles in your life, and He will change your life for the better!
How do I know these things? Because the word of God tells me so, and because I have personal experience and testimony to the same. And while I walk through the valley of the shadow of death He is with me, He sustains me, He guides me, He comforts me, and He gives me peace. I know who I am in Christ, I know where I am going after I die or when I am raptured whichever comes first. I know that God is with me at all times, in both good and bad. I know that I can count on Him to help me, and I know that His will is to make all things work together for my good. I know these things and it gives me hope, it comforts me, and it gives me peace!
Do not continue to suffer in hopelessness, repent of your sins and believe that Jesus Christ is God! Accept Him as your Lord and Savior, do it now, for today is the day of salvation! Seek God in all things, do not stop, give Him thanks, praise and worship, for only He is worthy of these things!
2 Corinthians 6:1-2
“We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.“
Accept Jesus Christ now as your Lord and Savior!
