Commentary By: Gordon King
Disasters such as massive fires, plane crashes, and storms ravish the world with death and destruction! We don’t see an end in sight to such horrific events, and in fact I would argue that we see an increase not a decrease in such things happening in the world.
Wars and rumors of wars are unprecedented at this time in history, one war leading to another war, nations once on the side lines being pulled into battle, rumors and threats of war are looming on the landscape. At what other time in history have we seen such intense and massive threats of war? At what other time in history have we been threatened with the destruction of nations and people as a whole?
Earthquakes are increasing in size and intensity in various places such as the 7.7 magnitude earthquake today in Chile. Storms of enormous magnitude are threatening the lives of millions of people worldwide such as Typhoon Nockten hitting the Philippine islands as I write this post, with sustained winds of 155 mph, and gusts of up to 190 mph. Massive fires threaten to destroy both life and property, many of which are not only caused by man but started by man!
And in the midst of it all the Pope is calling for peace among all nations. Peace and safety, isn’t that what the scriptures tell us will happen before the end comes, they will be saying peace and safety?
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.“
The day of the Lord will come when they are saying peace and safety. We’ve been hearing many world leaders telling us about “peace and safety”, this is a sign that the end is near, that the day of the Lord is at hand, and that the rapture of the church is near, for we are not appointed to wrath but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ!
If you don’t believe in the rapture of the church, then tell me when will the marriage and marriage supper of the Lamb occur? During the Millennial period? This doesn’t make any sense since the saints will be ruling the world with Christ during this time, therefore it must occur before Christ’s second coming. Revelation 19 speaks of the marriage and the marriage supper of the Lamb before Christ’s second coming, during the Tribulation period.
‘And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” ‘
We as children of the light know the times and the seasons, we know the signs, we know that the Lord will come as a thief in the night. And what does a thief do when he comes in the night? He comes to take away, just as the Lord will do at the rapture of the church, when the world is unaware and sleeping.
We are to watch and be ready at all times, to know the times and the seasons. We have been given the signs to watch for by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also tells us to comfort and edify each other, why? Because as believers we are not destined for God’s wrath upon the world!
1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
“For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Corinthians 15:51-53
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.“
The point is that we are seeing the signs which Jesus spoke of, the signs which He warned us would come just before His second coming. These signs are birth pangs, increasing in frequency and intensity just as a woman giving birth. They shall increase and intensify before the coming of the Lord, as if He was being birthed into this world a second time, however this time He shall come in all of His glory, riding on a white horse instead of a donkey, coming to reign and rule with a rod of iron!
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.“
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is coming again to rule the world! But, before this happens He is taking His bride in preparation for the wedding and the feast, just as the Jews did thousands of years ago during Christ’s time here on earth. He will come at His own time, a surprise, just as in Jewish tradition, the bride does not know exactly when he is coming but does know the season, just as we also know the season! We know the season but not the hour when Christ will take us for His wedding to us, His bride. Jesus went to prepare a place for us, just as the groom did for his bride, a place much better than where she previously resided. Isn’t that comforting to know?!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
