Commentary By: Gordon King
This life is full of ups and downs, of trials and tribulations, and of blessings and miracles. When the chips are down we should be seeking the Lord, however what do we do when things are going our way? Do we continue to seek the Lord? Do we even believe in God?!
There is a spiritual battle going on in this world, a battle between the forces of good and evil, spiritual forces that are battling for our very souls! We see this manifest itself in the good and evil in the world, we often see the evil overtaking the good, however there are many times when the good overtakes the evil.
Let us not be caught off guard by the good, for instance the election of Donald Trump as our next President of the United States of America. Many see this as a good thing, as good triumphing over evil, as Christian morals and values being given a green light to move forward with the will of God Almighty.
Of course I believe that the election of Donald Trump is a good thing for America, however, with every good thing there are many evil spirits attempting to do harm. Not only that, but bible prophecy will still come to pass, every bit of it, every word!
When good happens, evil is sure to follow. When Christians become closer to the Lord, then evil spirits will attempt to bring them down. This is just how it is, it’s a battle of the spirits manifesting itself into our physical dimension.
My point is that just because Donald Trump will be our next president does not mean that all will be well with the world, neither does it mean that your eternal future will be either unless you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ!
Good in the world is not a bad thing, but putting your eternal hope in it is! Unfortunately there are too many people attending church, doing good works, and being nice people believing that they are going to heaven. They believe that by doing these things they have reserved an eternal spot in heaven with God, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth! For some reason they haven’t given over their lives to Jesus, they have not made Him the Lord of their life.
I have been asked before if I was a “religious person”, and I had to say no. I for one do not like religion nor am I a religious person. Instead I am a saved person, placing all of my faith, trust, and hope in Jesus Christ! I do not follow sets of principles in order to make me a better person, a person worthy enough for God’s love and salvation. Only God can make me a better person and a saved person, nothing of my own doing. This does not mean that I do not try to follow God’s laws and principles, of course I do, but I do it because I love God and I want to be more and more like Jesus Christ! Sounds a bit confusing, it both is and it isn’t.
Many are led by religious rituals and traditions without knowing God. Maybe they were raised going to church, reading the bible, and praying to God, but in fact they have never been saved! Doing things does not save us, repenting of our sins and accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord does! That’s it plain and simple, it’s not really that hard to understand, but it can be a hard thing to do, having a change of heart, letting go of the world, and turning it all over to Christ.
I have often heard people say and even tell me that there is no God, then tell me that they are a good person, that they do good things, and that they don’t do bad things or break any laws, so of course they are going to heaven! Really?! If you don’t even believe in God then why would you then believe that you are going to a place which in your mind doesn’t even exist?! And then if you haven’t broken any laws, what about God’s laws? You may not have broken man’s laws but certainly have broken God’s laws. You say you do good things and are a nice person, well God says that all of your good works are as filthy rags in His sight if you are not born again.
God seeks perfection, how many of us can claim to be perfect? Just as I thought, no one! The only way to be made perfect in the eyes of the Lord is by being washed clean by the blood of Jesus, no other way my friends, no other! No other way to heaven, no other way for salvation.
God is real and Jesus Christ is returning soon, no matter what happens in this world, no matter what you believe to be the truth! There is but only one God of the universe, Jesus Christ, Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim, God Almighty, one God with many names, not Allah, not Buddha, not Hare Krishna, not any other religion or faith, and not Satan!
One way, one path, one Savior, Jesus Christ! His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
The economy might look good, political representatives might sound good, but the Tribulation period is coming, the wrath of God is coming, and the second coming of Christ is at hand! The rapture of the church is imminent, nowhere in scripture does it say that anything must occur before the rapture of the church, yet we know the season and the season is now! As believers in Jesus Christ we are not appointed to wrath, but to salvation through Jesus Christ.
It is easy to get off path with the ways of the world, easy to lose our direction if we don’t stay focused on our Savior. Even the elect can be led astray by the ways of the wicked one. We can be deceived into believing doctrines of demons, we can be led to believe in twisted scriptures, and we can grieve the Holy Spirit.
These are times to remain close to the Lord, times to be certain of your salvation, and times to perform God’s will on earth. We all have a calling, a purpose here on earth, a God-given reason for being. Let us fulfill that purpose according to His will not our own. Seek the Lord in all things, in good times and in bad. Give Him thanks in the good and the bad. For He makes all things work together for the good of those that love Him, all who are called according to His purpose. Amen.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
