Commentary By: Gordon King
The world is a dark place and getting darker, the evils in the world are intensifying, and it seems that this darkness has overtaken the whole world, that nothing good can come in the midst of all the evil. This is the bad news, the good news is that God is here and He is alive and well!
Although the good Lord has given Satan authority over the world, that does not mean that there is no good in the world, nor does it mean that He has completely turned the world over to Satan and his demonic forces. On the contrary my friends, God is here on earth performing miraculous acts, exposing the darkness with His light and bringing good out of evil, He is still in control of all things!
When we succumb to sin then we expose ourselves to evil, we bring upon ourselves things which will seek to devour us. However, it is also true that when we turn to the Lord and seek Him and His ways then this same evil will attempt to bring us down! This is a spiritual battle we are in, and as such the enemy will attack us. And the harder we fight for God Almighty the more the enemy will attack us!
How do we overcome the evil in the world, what should we be doing in order to defend ourselves against such wickedness? The answer is to turn to God, we cannot do it of our own accord, we must allow God to do it for us and through us. We must remember that we are weak but He is strong, we ourselves are unable to fight this evil on our own, we must have the good Lord on our side to do it for us!
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.“
The weaker we are the stronger we are with Christ in us. It is not us who is strong but Christ living within us, it is He who makes us strong. When we endure trials and tribulations, when we are distressed, then God will make us strong! When we are surrounded by the enemy then God will protect us, He will defend us and fight for us, in us, and through us!
We must seek God first and put aside our pride and our arrogance, we must come to Him for our needs, for our strength, and for our protection. God is greater than anything, He is the Creator of all things, and He is the Sustainer of all things holding everything together. He is our Father in heaven, He is our life, it is He who gives us life, provides for us, and comforts us. When we become Christians then we become one with God, one with Jesus Christ! He is in us and we are in Him. We become part of the same Spirit, of the same mind, and of the body of Christ. And if this is so then we have nothing to fear!
“Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.“
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.“
Do not fear, for we have been given a spirit of power, power in the name of Christ! The world fears what is coming, but the follower of Christ knows what is coming and is looking forward to His glorious appearing!
While the world is full of darkness, there is light. God is performing miracles daily throughout the world, His light shines brightly in dark places, and His will is being performed through His children and His Holy Spirit!
We must as children of God understand the true power He has, we must recognize that His Spirit is not only in us but all around us! It is not God who keeps us from overcoming, but it is us ourselves who limits the power of God. When we doubt, when we have fear, and when we forsake the leading of the Holy Spirit then we limit what God can do in our lives. He is ready and willing to help us according to His will, we need to trust in His promises and His supernatural power. We need to believe that He makes all things work together for good to those that love Him, all who are called according to His purpose! Amen.
We will endure hardships, trials, tribulations and persecution in this world. But, we can overcome by the power of Jesus Christ! Just as Christ overcame the world and overcame death, we can do the same, we have the power within us!
The good Lord wants the best for His children, He wants us to have our needs met, He wants us to be successful, and He takes pleasure in seeing us blessed, after-all we are His beloved children!
Humbly bow down to the Lord in repentance and with thanksgiving. Come to God with a heart seeking His face, with a spirit of love and adoration. Listen to what His Spirit says, take heed, and follow His lead. Allow Him to be your God, submit to Him and know that His ways are always better than your own!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
