Tumultuous Times!

Chaos and confusion

Commentary By:  Gordon King

These are tumultuous times that we are living in, times where anything goes and anything can happen!  If you are of the world then you can expect the worst, if you are a follower of Christ then you can expect the very best.  With that being said, all of us can expect to go through some terrible times, to have trials and tribulations.  The world will do it’s best to bring down even the elect!

As a follower of Christ you should expect the world to try and bring you down, to weaken your faith, and to place doubts in your mind.  This is the way of the world, the way of Satan himself!

Matthew 4:1-11

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’

‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’

Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”

11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Even Jesus was tempted by Satan, as Satan tried to get Jesus to bow down and worship at his feet!  The apostles were also tempted, abused, and persecuted as Jesus was.  And so it goes, as followers of Christ we will also be tempted, abused, and persecuted!

John 15:18-21

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.

Do not think that you are exempt from persecution, that the world will treat you with kid gloves, be aware and ready at all times!  Know that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  Do not place your faith and trust in the things of this world, but place them in God!  Seek Him in all things, and even through trials and tribulations know that He hears you and He will see you through.  He will be with you through the darkness, through the valley of the shadow of death!

We as Christians need God daily, we need to remember just who we are in Christ, and that the good Lord is with us at all times!  Especially during these last times it is essential for us to seek God first, to repent of our sins, and to follow His will not our own.

As the darkness closes in around us we become more vulnerable to the attacks of the evil ones.  If we let down our guard then we can succumb to the wiles of the devil.  Put on the full armor of God daily, do it each morning before you leave the house, pray without ceasing, and remember His words, write them on your heart!

I am telling you this because things are going to get much worse very quickly!  Listen to the words of Christ Himself, as in labor pains, that means that things will speed up and intensify the closer we get to the return of our Lord and Savior.  Time already seems to be flying by at speeds never before seen in the history of mankind, and the evil in the world is speeding up just as quickly!

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us all remember who we are and where we belong.  Do not grieve the Holy Spirit but follow His lead.  Listen to God’s quiet voice, and when you don’t hear it just remember that He hears you!  God is not only within us, He is everywhere, Omnipresent!

Good Lord in heaven hear my prayers.  I pray that you give all your children the courage, power, and strength to carry on until Your return.  Give us wisdom, insight, knowledge, and the ability to perform Your will on earth as it is in heaven!  Fill us to the brim with Your Holy Spirit, anoint us with Your supernatural power, and guide us in all of Your ways.  Open the eyes of the blind and those with deaf ears, show them the truth, and lead them all to salvation.  In Jesus precious name, Amen.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Amen!
I agree Gordon, it is getting harder and we don’t always understand why things happen as they do when God can so easily change things according to His Will but we have all been given free will too and God wants us to be able to exercise that free will in agreeing and surrendering to Him in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. Following in Jesus footsteps …..Saying, Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done. Only God by His grace can work that good work in us bringing us to that place where we too can be trusted to accept His Will when it may even cost us everything even our own life on earth.

God bless you Gordon……. The joy of the LORD is your strength.’

  2. Of all the possibilities left to occur on earth, I believe the one most likely to happen sooner rather than later is the Rapture of the Church. We could experience terror attacks, wars, natural disasters and economic hardship. All these can happen and the world will wake up the next day attempting to put it all back together and move on. But, not the Rapture of the Church. this one will be the event that shakes the world to its core. The Rapture will dispel guessing and philosophies . One second after the rapture everything worldwide changes forever. I don’t know about anyone else but what else should we be expecting to happen on earth for the sake of God’s purpose and plan if not the rapture of the church. I often think deeply about the rapture, closing my eyes and visualizing the earth from a space view in my minds-eye, visualizing millions of pure glistening white objects suddenly
appear all over the earth, increase in light intensity and slowly begin to move a few feet above the earth, hover there for a few moments and then in an instant move at light speed to a location in our lower atmosphere where Jesus Himself appears in a large gathering of white atmospheric clouds to meet us with open arms in the air. As we join in with an enormous group of saints already caught up with Christ (the dead in Christ) we gather together there as Jesus has His arms spread wide giving inclusive gestures to all of us to draw in closer and closer to Him. All of a sudden, we hear heavenly voices of joy and praise coming from the Presence of Jesus, we become aware of the number of those around each of us with a countenance of joy and gladness. After a few moments it becomes strikingly real what has happened to all of us, All the Saints who came forth from the graves have expressions of overwhelming adorations for Jesus, their eyes fixed on Him watching His every move and gesture. The raptured Saints now sensing a new glorified glistening white garment clothing them, giving super human mobility and power to move about and desiring to see the face of Jesus and adore Him with every effort. As the final moments of the gathering come to a close, the entire group with Jesus in the lead moves at warp speed out of the earths atmosphere up through an open portal in space like a door in the northern heavens. Once the door has been entered by Jesus and all with Him then it closes appearing to go back to the original dimension of space as it was prior to it opening. I can get excited about the Rapture. Anybody out there not sure of what would happen to you if Jesus appeared in heaven for his church, You don’t want to be left behind. Maranatha!!! Ethin

  3. Thanks for your rapture synopsis Ethin!

Beautiful vision of our rapture into heaven to meet Christ in the air! I agree, there is nothing better to look forward to then the rapture of the church, and it could happen at any moment we just don’t know. Nothing needs happen first before the rapture of the church, nothing!

There is something that the apostle Paul said about the rapture in 1 Thessalonians 4:18: “Therefore comfort one another with these words.” The only comfort that I could see is for the followers of Christ to be taken out of this world before the Tribulation period begins. What comfort is there in being persecuted by the Antichrist, or of looking forward to being beheaded?! What comfort is there in that? And if God somehow protects His children while pouring out His wrath upon a wicked world, what comfort is there in that, watching billions of people endure the wrath of God? I just don’t see the rapture occurring anywhere else but Pre-Tribulation. I can take great comfort in that!

And can you imagine the chaos and confusion when millions and millions of believers are instantaneously taken out of this world?! Not only chaos and confusion but disasters all over the world! The darkness will overwhelm the entire globe without any light, until the Lord brings forth the 144,000 converted Jews to preach the gospel. However the Antichrist will rule with little restraint from those who oppose him.

    God bless Ethin! Maranatha!

  4. I agree Gordon, The comforting part of these words and my scenario is that the rapture of the church happens pre-trib. This keeps us looking for Jesus Christ and not Anti-Christ.

  5. I have often thought about writing a book about the pre-trib rapture with the theme of it being the excitement and all the moments around the twinkling of an eye, the going up, the graves opening, or the dead coming forth, Jesus appearing in the clouds. I am not interested in generating book sales for money, but would like to give many the positive side of the rapture, the anticipation and the part those who will believe in Jesus can have in it.
