Commentary By: Gordon King
The ever-changing world, never-ceasing to move in one direction or another. And just when we thought that we have seen it all the tides change towards the fulfillment of bible prophecy!
Russia or Magog, has been forming a close alliance with the nation of Iran or Persia, both major players in the Ezekiel 38 war against Israel. We all know that Iran’s main goal is to wipe Israel off the face of the map, and that Iran is the worlds leading nation of terrorism.
News reports now claim that Russia and Turkey are now warming up to each other, and that they seek to improve their relations in a move which could usher in the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38.
Over the past few years we have seen the Middle East fall apart and implode. Many of these nations have fallen into the hands of terrorist entities, and there are those now aligned to come against the nation of Israel just as told to us by the prophet Ezekiel. However, there was a piece of the puzzle which didn’t make much sense, the tense relationship between Russia and Turkey, that is now changing.
Ezekiel 38 tells us of five nations that will form an alliance with Magog in an attack against the nation of Israel. These nations are listed in the old testament:
Magog – Russia, Persia – Iran, Cush – Ethiopia, Put – Libya, Gomer – Eastern Europe,
Beth Togarmah – Turkey
“The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshek and Tubal; prophesy against him 3 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army—your horses, your horsemen fully armed, and a great horde with large and small shields, all of them brandishing their swords. 5 Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets, 6 also Gomer with all its troops, and Beth Togarmah from the far north with all its troops—the many nations with you.”
They will come and attack Israel to plunder and loot.
“‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. 11 You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. 12 I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land.” 13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, “Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?”’
However, God’s hot anger will be aroused and He will intervene so that they know He is the Lord.
“I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “
Bible prophecy will be fulfilled, all of it! When will this war against Israel occur? No one really knows for sure, but the way things are happening so quickly, just how much longer could it possibly be? And if you think about it, just how much longer before the rapture of the church?!
When events in this world intensify more and more, they eventually have to give up or overtake, fall apart or explode. If you blow up a balloon and do not stop, then eventually it will pop. If a damn fills with water, but the water comes faster than what the damn can accommodate, then it will eventually overflow the damn, and quite possibly destroy it. The same goes for human events. When civil unrest gets worse and worse, it will eventually lead to anarchy or war, or as we have seen in the Middle East, the collapse of governments. My point is that eventually something has to give. When the pressure continues to build then there will be a reaction, the more pressure the greater the reaction!
While we must be aware of what is happening in the world, in the Middle East, we must stay focused on Jesus Christ! He is our hope and the One who will help us through these difficult times.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
