Having Faith in the Promises of God!

Live by faith copy

Commentary By:  Gordon King

Listen to the LORD God and know that He is with you!  Do not be afraid, do not fear, for the Lord will neither leave you nor forsake you!

Do you believe these words or are they merely words which have no meaning?  Well, I guess that all depends upon if you are a saved, born-again, bible believing Christian!

Trust in the promises of God, have faith in He who formed you from the dust of the earth and listen to His still small voice.

When we are young then we think that we know it all!  We often feel invincible, that the world is our oyster, and we can do whatever it is that we set out to do, all on our own.  This can be very inspiring to hear, until you get to the last few words: “all on our own”.

We think that we can do it on our own, without the help of God, without trusting in God or even believing in God.  This is a self-image adored by the world, made manifest by the world and it’s god, Satan!  All about self, self, self, full of pride, arrogance, and blasphemy!

Most of us have been through difficult times in our lives, struggling through adversity attempting to overcome darkness.  Just how many of us have done so alone, without God?  Has it gotten any better?  Have you found that you can do it on your own, without God to help?  If so then I feel sorry for you!  Why?  Because you may never know the love of God, you may never have eternal salvation!  Or you may have actually already been saved, but for some reason decided that you could do it better on your own.  I have done this and it has always ended in disaster!

When we have Jesus Christ as our Savior, and when we go through trials and tribulations in our life, then we can see that God is with us, and that He has our best interest at heart.  We can look back over the years and see the miracles that God has performed in our lives.  We can see where we had faith, or lack of faith.  Where God allowed us to go through difficult times in our lives in order for us to learn and grow.

Each trial, each tribulation is a learning ground, a time when we should be growing in our faith and relationship with God.  What is God trying to teach us, how is He using this situation in order for my good?  We don’t always see or know just why God is allowing somethings to happen in our lives, yet He does, and we know it will all work together for our good!

Keep God first, seek God first in all things, and know that He is with you, He shall never leave you nor forsake you!

Have you prayed to God for a miracle?  Do you pray everyday for the same thing, hoping that someday soon God will answer your prayer?  I have, and I still do, every single day!  Don’t give up, pray without ceasing.  The good Lord works in His own ways, in His own time, and at His will.  Listen to the Lord, pray to Him daily, and follow His lead.

We never really know just what God is up to in our lives, nor do we know why He does some of the things that He does or allows to happen.  To God it makes perfect sense, while to us it may seem irrational or even nonsensical, but His ways are not are ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts.  Let us not argue with God, but instead trust in His ways!

God does answer prayer, He does bless those who love and seek Him, and He protects His children.  Pray to the Lord with a humble heart, listen to His voice, be still and know that He has your best interest at heart and His will be done!

Love God with all of your heart, trust God in all things, have faith that God will do what He has promised us He will do, and know that He is with you always, even til the end of the earth!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

Hi Gordon, I have an honest question that I don’t want to argue anyone about but I would appreciate your response to the question.
When God told Abram in Gen. 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you” Does this mean that today if a Christian saved and redeemed by the blood of Jesus with total faith in Jesus and living a fruitful life serving Jesus then somehow doesn’t show favor and blessings towards Israel the nation or people then they come under God’s curses. I hear this scripture read over and over again by pastors telling their flocks that by blessing Israel then you are racking up special rewards here on earth and in heaven. What do you think? It’s almost like supporting Israel is some type of spiritual voodoo magic you do for blessings.
Appreciate your word on the matter.
    Sincerely,
    Ethin

      Thanks for your question Ethin.

I believe what God said, I believe that it holds true for today just as it did thousands of years ago. I believe that God is the same today as he as yesterday and will be forever.

With that being said, I believe that if a person is truly saved, then he or she is saved, period, once and for good, always and forever, sealed by the Holy Spirit. It sounds like you are asking if what God said about Israel also applies to “Christians”. I believe that if we bless Israel then God will bless us, will he curse us also if we curse Israel? I’m not sure, but I don’t want to find out either. Perhaps he will chasten us for disobedience.

I don’t believe in voodoo magic, but I do believe in rewards, the new testament tells us to do things in the name of Jesus to build rewards in heaven. Could blessing Israel build rewards in heaven? Maybe. When we perform the will of God in our lives, then we find favor with God and God will bless us, I find this true in my own life.

I believe what God says to be the truth, I don’t always know why He tells us to do certain things, and they may not always seem like the right thing to do in my own mind, yet I believe and trust in what God says. I personally support Israel and the Jews, they are God’s chosen people, set apart by the Creator of the universe for His own special purpose. He tells me to bless them and I do, I will not argue with God about it.

I know that not everyone supports Israel, not even all Christians, and that is their choice to make. We all have choices to make and we all have consequences for the choices that we do make.

      God bless Ethin! Maranatha!

    Amen, Gordon. Thank you.
    We serve an awesome God!
And as you’ve stated so many times…

    Jesus showed us the way…
He showed brotherhood in relations to every man, woman, child. He demonstrated compassion, respect, decorum toward people in every walk of life. His mannerism in dealing with situations showed strong character and strength, standing in the Father’s principals, in LOVE. He came to show us this love/agape, the simplicity, the truthfulness of loving your neighbor. LOVE conquers, in spite of the opposition.
His followers (Bible believers), must do no less, by being connected to Him on a daily bases. He had (while on earth) and has the confidence, the loyalty of The Father. They are one in character, in strength, in attitude, in all the attributes associated with love. AND through Jesus, we as well. He left us not alone but with His Spirit in each of us, who believe in our hearts He is who He says He is.
Emulating His character, His strength, His person. Showing Christ in us, by our actions, our mannerism, our attitude, our perseverance, our lifestyle in what ever situation we find ourselves in. Tough that it is a times… to forge ahead, when society is determined to undermine and bend us to its will; with its material things and gadgets, entertainments and distractions. Its warp sense of righteousness, its free fall, anything goes with no moral conduct/code attach to it. All a farce to get us to forego, forget our Heavenly Father. We must be strong and not live in the world of fantasy but of reality, God gives us the courage needed to say “no thank you”. Be in the world but not part of its shenanigans to be deceived away from His truth. Yet be inform of what’s happening and how close we are to His appearance. We are called to be a ‘peculiar people’ with our effort to spread love, love for the individual NOT the sin, with malice towards none. There will be times we will be pitted against one another, we are not to escalate the situation with anger, but defuse it with kindness and walk away. We all have our differences, ours is to show compassion.

Times will come when we will be persecuted for what is in our hearts to be true (God’s truth), don’t be afraid; for ‘greater is He who is in us then he who is in the world’! We all must come to the realization if they persecuted Jesus, they will persecute us. If they killed our Lord, they will or attempt to kill us. Be prepared! Not afraid. We must have the attitude of martyrdom, unpopular as this may sound, our faith may come to this.. Fight the good fight, fight with the whole armor of God on. Jesus conquered death and holds the keys. Our Father raised Him from the grave and He will also raise us, to immortality. This is the triumph the adversary doesn’t want us to know. Death comes to all, no matter how much science thinks it can avoid it, it’s unavoidable. Yet, death has no hold or sting for those who believe in the power of God Almighty and have faith in Jesus Christ. We’re living the last days, the spirit of this age is deceiving, deceitfulness.
Don’t give up but pray, lay everything on the table, this alone will release all the tension built inside us. Calming our spirit to think clearly and to resolve whatever issue is facing us, especially to walk towards God not away from. Trusting Him wholeheartedly will give you the tranquility you need to forge ahead, no matter what. Him alone not what this world can offer. He alone gives you the promise of peace, the promise of hope, the promise of life and love.
God is in control. Let Him in your heart.
“Let all your bitterness, wrath, anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgives you.” (Eph. 4:31,32)

The world is caught up in itself to show any moral decency. But in spite of it we must stand for the Gospel, the Good News of a better life coming with Jesus Christ at the helm, not this temporary cesspool of degradation we find ourselves in (as Scriptures’ foretells). Plant the seed, one can only point the way and trust God to do the rest, not loose hope. “Having faith in the promises of God!” Keep hope alive in yourself and continue to spread it! God bless us all.
    Maranatha!
Thanks again Gordon, for an uplifting message.

      Thank you SweetJava!

Very well said, and I love that verse: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgives you.”

      God bless! Maranatha!

I pray for Israel as God’s people chosen and protected by Him. I believe they will pick up the Baton and run with it once the Church is removed from Earth and they need our prayers for they have a mighty calling to then evangelise a hostile world governed by the Anti Christ. The Jewish people have never had it easy and have suffered so much throughout History but God has never given them over to total destruction, He has preserved them and a remnant ‘The Elect’ will Glorify Him on Earth during the times of Jacobs troubles (the tribulation period).

God bless Israel the true vine and us gentile believers grafted into that vine all to be as one in Jesus Christ for The Glory of God!
