What’s it going to take to wake people up?! How bad do things have to get before people see that the world is falling to pieces and that disaster could strike at any moment?
Things in this world are accelerating at a rapid pace, I’m talking about disasters, war, evil, violence, and calamity. It’s not like we only need to prepare for a coming hurricane, but also a major earthquake, volcanic eruption, fire, flood, and landslide all in the same region and all at the same time!
This is how the world is now, severe natural disasters, wars and rumors of wars, Islamic terror, increased persecution, food shortages, drought, famine, deadly pestilence, civil unrest, and economic crises. Society at large is becoming less moral and ethical, while becoming more evil and wicked! Yet, even with all of this going on around us, many if not most seem oblivious to it!
Is this how it was in the days of Noah? I believe that it was exactly like that! Increased evil and wickedness, yet people carrying on with their lives, business as usual. No one really concerned about what was happening in the world, none but Noah and his family.
Sometimes we get so busy with our daily lives that we don’t see the whole picture. We live in a small world of our own, a tiny bubble, while the rest of the world is on fire!
So what can we do, what as Christians can we do in times like these? We can do what we were called to do, and that is perform God’s will on earth as it is in heaven. We can serve the Lord the best that we can. We can share God’s love with a hurting and sick world, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations.
We can also prepare for hard times by stocking up on the basic necessities of life, food, water, first aid, etc., things which will help us through tough times when disaster strikes, because it will strike!
But the most important thing of all which we can do to prepare is to be right with God! Turn from your sin and repent. Believe that Jesus Christ is God, and accept Him as your Lord and Savior! He will help you, He will provide. And most importantly, you will have eternal life!
Noah and his family were warned of impending disaster, and God told them to prepare, so they did what God had told them to do. They survived the great flood, they had food, water, and shelter to see them through the storm. Not only that, but they had what they needed to start over, to rebuild what they had lost.
Not all of us are able to purchase large quantities of food and other supplies. Do what you can, save what you can, store up what you are able to, this is the wise thing to do.
Prepare now so that when disaster strikes you will be prepared then.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
