Commentary By: Gordon King
Being a believer in Jesus Christ means not only to repent of your sins and accept Him as your Savior, it means to do the things which He told us to do.
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?“
God has given us a set of laws and principles by which we are to live by. He told us how we are to act and what we are to do. By doing these things we know that we are children of God, and that His Holy Spirit is dwelling inside of us!
Love your enemies and pray for them, help those in need, treat others with kindness, forgive as He has forgiven you, live in peace.
What good does it do us if we only love those who love us? Even the lost love those who love them, isn’t it much more to love and forgive those who condemn us? He came not for the righteous, but for the unrighteous! He came for the sinner, to save the lost, not those already saved.
“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.“
Helping those in need is a principle which Jesus Christ did throughout His ministry on earth. He also tells us to help those in need. Help, give, provide, all for the glory of God!
Treat others with kindness, be tender-hearted and loving, treat others as you wish to be treated.
“And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.“
Forgive others as your Father in heaven has forgiven you! Do not seek vengeance, nor hold trespasses in your heart, for it will bring about bitterness, strife, and destruction.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.“
Those who are forgiven more will love more!
“Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.“
Live in peace, seek peace, and the righteous will live by peace!
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. “
“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
The fruit of the Spirit is producing good works in believers of Jesus Christ! Let us not forsake the righteous acts of the saints, but take part in their good pleasure.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
