Believe in God, take Him at His word!
The Bible is the written word of God Almighty, it tells us just what we need to know in order to be saved, to know who He is, and how He wants us to live.
Holy scripture is given to man, through man, inspired by God. It is God breathed!
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.“
The Bible is not merely a book of words written down on paper by man for man, they are words of God, from God and by God! These words are alive and real, they continue to show us the truth. You can read and study the scriptures, then go back and study the same scriptures and they will reveal something to you that you never saw before!
While there are many in the world today who say that the bible is merely man-made fables, scripture has proven itself to be true. Yet, unbelievers still choose not to see or believe. The bible is a book of history, both past and future events. It documents what has actually happened in the past, as well as what will happen in the future. But, how do we know that they are true?
Biblical history has actually proven itself to be true, as foretold to us by the prophets of Old. Prophecies written thousands of years ago predicted what would happen in the future, and to this date, all prophecies so far have come to pass with 100% accuracy! What other book or religion can boost that?!
Not only have hundreds of written prophecies about Jesus, the coming Messiah, come to pass, all with 100% accuracy, but you can also read the writings of ancient secular historians who will substantiate these facts!
The truth is that if you are willing to have an open mind and are honestly seeking the truth, then you will find it! However, if you keep a closed mind and a hardened heart towards God, then you will not.
We are all born into this world with a body, mind, and soul, yet our spirit is dead. This is due to the fact that we are born into sin! Without a living spirit from God, we cannot see the truth, nor can we see God or the things of God. It is not until we are born again that we receive a new spirit, with eyes to see, ears to hear, and a softened heart.
Once we have this new spirit then we can understand God and His ways. We can see the truth, we can know that God is with us! We are then able to discern right from wrong, good from bad, and unholy from holy. The things of God and heaven make sense to us, while the things of this world do not!
Once born again, we are no longer of this world, but of heaven above. We are from a different place, the kingdom of God!
We have a new spirit, and our spirit is one with God, and God’s spirit is one with us!
1 Corinthians 6:17
“But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.“
We are joined together with God, one God, one spirit. God is everywhere, He is in us and all around us. We are one with Him and He with us! Our Father God is in heaven and we are also there with Him.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.“
(We have been saved by grace, nothing more, nothing less, not water baptism, not by our good works, only by repenting of our sins and accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior! It is a gift of God, not dependent upon what we do, but on what God has done for us, undeserving, yet given to us by God’s grace. A gift!)
Once saved then we have a new spirit, one with God, that means with God! Verse 6 tells us that we are raised up together and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That means we are with God in heaven as I speak, not physically, but in spirit!
And what implications does that have for us today? It gives us the authority to come to our Father in heaven and make petitions. It gives us the right to speak directly to our Father and worship Him, seek Him, and ask Him for whatever we will ask. This is very powerful and not to be taken lightly.
We all sin, yes even believers in Jesus Christ at times sin. However, this does not give us a blank check to live a sinful lifestyle! None of us are yet perfect, only Jesus Christ was perfect.
1 John 1:8-10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.“
1 John 2:1-2
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.“
The apostle Paul wrote that even he sinned. Even Paul battled against sin in his life, yet he wrote most of the books of the New Testament. Are we then to assume that Paul was not a Christian? No, of course not!
“For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.“
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected;“
The point is that none of us are perfect, nor will we be until we are fully redeemed by Christ! However, one day we know through scripture that we will be transformed and given a new body, a perfect body, unable to sin, immortal, and everlasting. A body which is truly Christ-like in every way.
“who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.“
We have been given a living spirit, have access to God in heaven, and will be given a new body which will be conformed to His glorious body! This we are told, this we can believe! For it is written by God, so that we would know.
God is not only with us, He is in us and we are in Him! We are one in spirit with God and He with us! He knows our heart and our thoughts. He convicts us of our sin, and brings us to repentance. He raises us up with Him, He bestows great love upon us, and showers us with His blessings!
As believers in Jesus Christ we can know the things of God if we listen to Him, if we believe His words to us. We can rest assured that God is with us at all times, in times of diversity and times of blessing. And one day when we are redeemed by God, when we are given a new body and perfected, then we will know much more of God Himself.
1 John 3:1-3
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.“
If we are Christians, then we will at times sin. However, we should not make it a practice to live a sinful lifestyle. When we are convicted of our sins, then we know that we are saved. When we know that it is wrong to do something then we know that God is speaking to us. And when we can see and understand the things of God and what God is telling us then we know that we are Christians! When we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, then we know that we are believers in Jesus Christ. These are some of the ways to know that you have truly been saved. By the same token, we can also trust in God’s words to us. His words are true and never fail!
I believe in God and I believe God! I take Him at His word. He is with us, in us, and all around us forever more! Amen.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
