Commentary By: Gordon King
I recently wrote about the lost not seeing things the same way that believers do. The lost view things from a worldly perspective, from human reasoning. Believers view things from a heavenly perspective, from God’s view and His reasoning.
The wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God!
1 Corinthians 3:19
‘For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;’
Foolishness, “The lack of good sense or judgment; stupidity”, according to the definition. This is the wisdom of the world, lost in their own understanding, believing what their own minds can conjure up. Believing that they have all of the answers, and that their own answers out weigh the mind of God!
Even the best of human minds cannot out think God, nor does their worldly wisdom even come close to His wisdom.
1 Corinthians 1:25
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.“
The world believes that it can out think God, that it can become wiser than even the One who created them! Just how absurd is that? Yet this is where we find ourselves in the world today, human reasoning used to define the non-existence of God, to explain away the things of God, and to undermine the teachings of God!
God is not a thing, He is not a force somewhere out in the darkness waiting to be absorbed and used along with a light sword! He is a real being, a spirit being, smarter than any human mind, wiser then the wisest of all men. He is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient. Meaning that He is all-powerful and able to do all things, He is everywhere at all times, and He is all-knowing of the past, present and the future, every thought, every word, every act!
God is with us and around us at all times. Period! He will never leave us nor forsake us.
1 Corinthians 1:18-19
‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” ‘
Jesus Christ came into this world, as a man and as God. He is part of the Trinity of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He was crucified on a cross, died, and was buried in a tomb. After three days He arose from the tomb. He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. He is the only way to the Father in heaven. Whoever repents of their sins and believes these things shall be saved!
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Knowledge is understanding. Fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Not fearing in the sense of being afraid, but fearing in the sense of having great awe and respect for God! This is true wisdom.
The world does not know such wisdom, nor do most of them seem to care. Instead they rely on their own worldly wisdom and lusts of the flesh, this is stupidity!
Psalm 92:6-8 (ESV)
“The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: 7 that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; 8 but you, O Lord, are on high forever.”
The proud of this world do not seek God, nor is God in his thoughts or ways, for their ways are the wicked ways of the world.
“The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.“
Do the people of the world deny God because of their wicked ways, because of the pride in their hearts? Yes. But, they also say in their hearts that God will not require them to give an account for their actions.
‘Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, “You will not require an account.” ‘
This could not be further from the truth! God will require an account of all men, of all who have turned their backs to Him in rebellion.
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,”
There is soon coming a day when the LORD God will judge all men and women for their deeds, thoughts, and actions.
‘But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:
“As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. ‘
There are two separate judgments, for the believer it is called the “Bema Seat Judgment”, for unbelievers it is called the “Great White Throne Judgment”.
The Bema Seat Judgment
2 Corinthians 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.“
In this verse the apostle Paul is speaking of believers in Jesus Christ. The “judgment seat” has been translated from the Greek word “beamatos”, which is where we get the word “Bema” from, or “Bema Seat Judgment”. This judgment is not to condemn us, but to reward us for the good works we have done while serving the Lord.
The Great White Throne Judgment
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
The Great White Throne Judgement is for unbelievers in Jesus Christ, those lost in the world who do not place their trust and faith in Him. This judgment will occur at the end of the one thousand-year rule and reign of Christ on earth, the Millennium period. Those not found written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire.
The words that I have written are the truth, you can believe them or not, it’s your choice to make. And many will say where do you get the authority to say such things, and why do you quote so much from the bible! I get my authority from the God of the universe, Jesus Christ! I quote so much scripture because it is the truth, it is the word of God, it is alive and powerful. The word of God is wisdom, it is truth, it is God’s word to man, the written authority by which we are to be governed.
Many people will choose not to listen, they will ignore God’s word and His calling to salvation. They will continue to rebel against the One who created them, the One who created it all, Jesus Christ!
Those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ have become children of God. They have been filled with the Holy Spirit, and they are temples of God Himself! We as believers are holy to the Lord, we are one with Him and He with us. When the world condemns us they condemn Him. When they persecute us they persecute Him.
Take heed to the word’s of the Lord, do not brazenly push Him aside without first knowing the truth. Make sure that you absolutely know without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ is not God, that God does not exist, and that there is more than one way to heaven before you harden your heart to the point of no return! Each time you reject God, your heart becomes harder and your eyes become covered with more scales, until you get to the place where you will never be able to hear the truth, never be able to see what is standing right in front of you!
Jesus Christ, He came into this world in order to save it, not to condemn it! He came so that you may have eternal life, not destruction. He loves you more than you could ever know, no matter what you have done in the past, no matter what you may be doing now! He will accept you now as you are, no questions asked, not by force, not by coercion, but out of love.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
