Does Science Prove the Existence of God?

Commentary By:  Gordon King

Does science actually prove the theory of evolution or does it in fact give credence to the existence of God?

Man has been attempting to reproduce life in the laboratory for decades without any success.  There have been no successful attempts at creating life from the basic elements which would have been around at the beginning of the world.  Yet, most of the scientific community believes in evolution and the “Big Bang Theory” which states that the universe came into existence all by chance, with nothing, from nothing, and for no apparent reason!

Personally, I believe that the universe could very well have begun with a big bang, however, I do not believe that it all started with nothing, from nothing, and for no apparent reason.  Jesus Christ formed the universe, and He very well could have started it with a big bang!

There is absolutely no evidence that the universe was formed by a big bang from nothing!  If there was not a creator, then where did this matter come from when none actually existed.  And if there was nothing, then why would it, how could it, become very dense and hot?  I mean, if nothing at all existed, how could it be immensely dense and hot?!  This in and of itself should be a red flag.  You cannot get something from nothing at all, it’s just not how our physical universe works!

There are laws which govern our physical world and universe, just as God has laws and principles.

The 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics (google):

The first law, also known as Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of any isolated system always increases.

en·tro·py

1Physics
a thermodynamic quantity representing the unavailability of a system’s thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work, often interpreted as the degree of disorder or randomness in the system.
 .
2.  lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder.
 .

So if we adhere to these laws of nature, then we know that energy cannot be created or destroyed.  Therefore, how could the universe have begun from a minute particle so very small that it requires an electron microscope even to see it?  And if there was nothing, then where did it come from?  After-all, scientists tell us that this very minute particle contained all of the matter in the universe, that’s a lot of matter and energy!  Energy which they say came from nowhere, yet the laws of nature tell us that this is impossible!

Another thing to consider is that the 2nd law of thermodynamics tells us that the entropy of any isolated system always increases!  Remember that entropy is the decline into “disorder”, not into “order”.  If this is true, then how could a mass of mud, water, and slime go from its disordered state to a state of order and complexity?  It just makes no sense whatsoever according to the laws of nature!

Look around you in the world, what do you see going from a disordered state of decay to a state of order?  What physically goes from being dead to being alive?  I don’t see it!  I see just the opposite happening, from a state of order to a state of disorder, this is true for everything in the universe.

How many times have you placed a banana on the counter and it goes bad really fast?  On the other hand, how many times have you placed a banana on the counter and it becomes fresher?!  Even when you put the banana in the refrigerator, at some point it will go bad, just a little delayed.  This is true for all things, over time everything will decay and go into a state of disorder!  And if all things go into a state of disorder, then how could evolution be true?  With evolution you must take simple, disordered elements and they must become ordered, into a higher state of being.  Many scientists claim that we have evolved from a lower form of life, that we have become better and more intelligent from a less intelligent source, yet, this goes against the laws of nature.

It’s not really that difficult to see and understand, yet many scientists make it out to be so.

If the laws of nature hold true for the entire universe, and they do, then there must be another explanation as to how the universe was formed, and how nature itself began.  The bible tells us how it all started, it was created by Jesus Christ.  Scientific study disproves evolution and the “Big Bang” from nothing, yet it substantiates the “creation” of the universe!

On another note, Atheists don’t believe in God, yet I get many of them arguing with me about God!  This makes no sense to me whatsoever.  They not only argue with me about God, many of them claim to be mad at Him and hate Him!  But, if they do not even believe in the existence of God, then how could they hate Him?  I mean, if He doesn’t even exist how could they hate Him?  You cannot hate something that doesn’t even exist!

Evolution and the “Big Bang Theory”, all began with nothing, in the middle of nothing, formed without nothing, in order to do nothing, all by chance, all against the laws of nature.  All of this formed from disorder and disarray, evolving into higher and higher levels of order and intelligence, intelligence from nothing.  Wow, that sure sounds convincing to me!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

      Thanks for your comment Benton.

That may be true, yet where in this world do you ever see something go from a state of disorder to a state of order? What in this world goes from a state of being in decay to a state of restoration on its own? Does the sun restore things to a state of order, and if so why are we humans not getting younger or staying the same age?

      God bless!

Strictly speaking, thermodynamics deals with potential energy. Order is often used as a proxy for that. So your question could be rephrased as “where do you see potential energy of a system increasing”.

Burn an acorn and the fire won’t last long. Burn an oak tree and it’ll last much longer. The potential energy of the tree has increased. Thus, the growing tree represents a (small scale) violation of the second law of thermodynamics.

        Thanks for your comment Adam!

That is true, everything contains energy, and at some point in time everything releases that energy and decays. A small tree will grow, yet it is growing into decay, just as a new born baby. It could be argued that at the earliest stage is when the tree or baby is at its peak, but I do see your point.

However, given enough time the tree will die, just as every physical thing decays, that is the point that I was trying to make.

        God bless!

And in much the same way evolving species will go extinct. That complexity will fade away and decay just like the tree. It’ll just take a bit longer.

        Thanks for your comment Adam.

But if everything in this life is in a state of decay, then there would never be evolution into a higher state of order in the first place.

        God bless!

Perhaps a bit of clarification is needed.

Everything will ultimately decay and – in the long run – thermodynamics will be satisfied. But in the short term this decay can be halted, even reversed to produce more complexity (often done by “stealing” order from the environment by consuming food).

In much the same way the tree increases in order, before eventually rotting; so life as a whole can increase in order, before eventually going extinct.

        Thanks Adam!

That may be true for some things, however, this is very temporary and everything is still headed for decay, everything but the living spirit and God. And even though some things may be able to slow down the effects of decay, they are still being decayed by their environment and by time, unless we can stop time.

Ahh! Gordon, you make a valid point my friend. Isn’t there a song that states ” Nothing from nothing, leaves nothing. You gotta have something…” (something like that.)
The truth of the matter is people would rather believe the abstract then in reality. And so you have proven you point, quite nicely.

In believing in a Higher power they must reduce themselves insignificantly, this is where the problem originates. Satan told Eve she would be a god and know good and evil. “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. Gen 3:5. Well, (most of) the scientific community (and others) believe they are gods…
And these are intelligent people… May God help them to see the truth of life, that’s right in front of their eyes; i.e. all the different trees, flowers, animals, people, planets, etc. etc. Sorry, but a small matter can not produce all the variations we have in life.

When you take God out of everything your left with conjectures.

May God bless us all with His wisdom to know His sovereignty. Maranatha!

  2. Christine

I have had very similar discussions with someone that I have met via facebook this week and He also seems to have a so called intelligent answer for everything and demands subjective proof of the existence of God. ‘ Blessed are those that believe but have not seen’ . The proof of the inner witness comes after we have believed just enough of the Gospel Message to SINCERELY call on the name of Jesus for His help and forgiveness. The indwelling of The Holy Spirit that is given to believers bears witness to Jesus! We don’t have to have All the answers to our questions to come to Him He looks on the Heart and if we are sincerely seeking and are honest with Him He will Help us to overcome the obstacles to our full belief.
I think the whole universe and all living things tell us there is a Creator a Master Mind behind everything. I am amazed that people can see all the beauty of nature and the magnificence and order of the universe, the world, the seas, and not wonder about God. If we can make children in our own image and see that as a miracle of life how much greater can God who made man after His own Image. He calls us to become as little children. Little children will trust a good parent they will feel they belong to that parent they will not feel or want to be separate from that parent they will want to be in the loving and safe presence of their parent. Little Children will trust someone they know truly loves them and does them good and no harm, If their parent tells them something they will believe it because the person telling them is someone they see as all wise all knowing. When we become children of God we have the best Daddy He is Abba our Father and until we know Him we will never know who we are or why we are!

God bless you Gordon and thank you for all the thought provoking words you have written it is good that people will question and think on these matters and by Gods Grace He may grant them Faith even as tiny as a mustard seed at first but so that it may grow and fill the whole being.

      Thank you Christine!

Even most atheists question God and His attributes. They do not want to follow a God who will allow suffering and pain in the world, and they cannot understand why a loving God would tell the Jews to kill other people in ancient times. By atheists wondering these things, they must actually first believe that their is a God! So in actuality, they are not really atheists, but merely lost sinners rebelling against God!

None of us have all of the answers, we learn more and more about God and His ways each and everyday. The closer we get to Him, the more He will reveal Himself to us.

      God bless!
