Commentary By: Gordon King
We all experience the day to day grind, daily problems in life, while others experiencing major trials and tribulations. While small problems may seem small to other people, they don’t always seem so small and insignificant when they are happening to us!
These small problems can fester and grow like a cancer, spreading into other areas of our lives. They can become giants, threatening to bring us down, tearing us apart bit by bit, and piece by piece. There comes a time in our lives when we all need to face giants. When we need to stand tall in our faith, unwavering in our convictions, and filled with the power and strength of God Almighty!
Remember its not us who are strong, but God living within us! He is our strength, He is our power, and it is through Him and by Him that we can do all things. Amen.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
We are made strong through our weakness, because it is God’s power that shines the brightest when we are weak!
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’
Our relationship with God is crucial to our daily lives upon this earth. Believers in Jesus Christ need daily communion with Him in order to withstand the attacks of the enemy! We need to be in His word, to fellowship and pray to and with Him daily. Our strength is not found in ourselves, but in God and His word.
If we say that we are saved, yet we do not fellowship with God daily, then how can we enjoy the benefits of God on a daily basis? And if we do not remain close to the Lord and His word, then how can we live and abide by His word? There is power in God’s word, it is a living book, written for God’s children not only as a guide to life, but for life itself!
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
We need to remain close to the Lord if we are going to allow Him to work through us. And if we are going to allow Him to work through us, then we need to stay close to the Lord! If the only time we hear God’s word is once a week at church, then how are we able to discern right from wrong, evil spirits from good spirits?! How are we to know just what God’s word says if we do not read it and study it on a regular basis?
The apostles write about being mislead and deceived in the last days. The closer we get to the return of Christ the more this will be true!
2 Peter 2:1-3
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.“
There are those now who seek to deceive and lead astray, even the elect. There will be a great falling away from the faith in the last days, do not be deceived! Know God’s word, study it, and keep it!
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
