Commentary By: Gordon King
I was told by one of the followers of this blog that what I am doing will attract Satanic attacks. She must have sensed that something was happening, and she was right! This is bible prophecy in the making!
2 Peter 3:3
“knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts“
I have recently had a couple of commenters leave me many questions and statements regarding my faith in Jesus Christ. These people are not believers in Jesus Christ, in fact they appear to be Wiccans as seen by their photo IDs:
For some reason this commenter has removed his image-photo ID since yesterday! This image is used by Wiccans and is known as the “Triquetra”.
The next picture is from a commenter who made comments today about Jesus and my beliefs.
This commenter’s photo ID was of this symbol tattooed on a shoulder. It is also used by Wiccans and is known as the “Triple moon crescent”.
Both of these symbols represent Wiccan worship, although they use many other symbols as well, the following are a couple of more symbols they use, from: symboldictionary.net
Wicca is an eclectic religious belief system centering around gods, goddesses, and nature worship. Gary Cantrell, a well-known Wiccan author, says that Wicca is based on “harmony with nature and all aspects of the god and goddess divinity.”1 Wiccan practice involves the manipulation of nature through various rituals in attempts to gain power, prestige, love, or whatever else a Wiccan wants. It uses symbols in its ceremonies and follows the calendar in reference to Wiccan festivals. Its roots are in ancient agrarian Celtic Society. It is considered Neo-Pagan (based on old European and pre-Christian belief systems). Wicca does not have a structure of clergy and/or congregations. But it does have priests and priestesses which are in leadership positions within covens that have witches. The varying traditions of Wicca have different requirements for attaining the level of priest and priestess. Some of the more common varieties of Wicca are 1734, Alexandrian, Celtic, Dianic, Dicordian, Eclectic, Gardnerian, and Georgian. Wicca is even recognized as a religion in the military.
One of the most common aspects of working theology is the teaching of reincarnation and karma. The purpose of reincarnation is to learn lessons through the various lives. “This process of reincarnation is repeated for numerous lifetimes until a development of the Spirit is reached where the Spirit can truly merge with the male and female balanced creator/creatrix entity. We are returned to the God and to the Goddess.”[Ibid., p. 27.] Karma is the law of cause and effect that “does not punish nor reward. It is simply a universal law that reacts to causation until disharmony is illuminated.”2
Wicca does not claim to be the only way but says that all spiritual traditions and paths are valid to those who practice them.3 It accepts “the fact that all life is sacred, including plant, animal, and human.“4
Generally, Wiccans do not believe in the existence of a devil (they are not Satan worshippers). They have no orgies or public displays of sexuality in their rituals (though some Wiccan traditions practice nudity and sexuality not open to the public), no bestiality, and no blood sacrifices. They do not practice spells with the intention to harm people. They deny that there are moral absolutes, believe that nature is divine, and seek to be in harmony with the earth/nature.
Is it recognized as a religion by the government? Absolutely.
“Wicca is a bona fide religion, Mr. Barr. It has been recognized by the courts, and legal Wiccan clergy can be found in every state in the United States. We have chaplains in many American and Canadian prisons. Our guiding principle, the Wiccan Rede, admonishes us to harm none.”5
The Wiccan Rede and the Threefold Law
There are two basic codes by which the Wiccans live. First is the Wiccan Rede which states, “An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will.” This means that a Wiccan is free to use his or her magic as long as it doesn’t harm anyone. The second is the Threefold Law which says that all the good you do will return to you threefold in this life. Likewise, all the harm you do will return to threefold as well.
The God and Goddess
There is an ultimate life force called “The One” or “The All” from which the male and female aspects of life emerged, i.e., the god and goddess. The Divine, god or goddess, depending on to whom you are talking, can have different names. There can even be references to different gods from other theological systems: Hinduism, Egyptian, Buddhism, ancient Greece, Sumerian, Christian, etc. In Wicca it doesn’t really matter what name is given to a person’s concept of God as long as you have one, two, or more.
One Wiccan might consider God to be self-aware and another may not. It all depends on the angle that an individual Wiccan takes in his or her theological construction of what best works. It is a religion of self-design. In Wiccan theology, because god can show different characteristics in different ways to different people, Wiccans can have different and even contradictory conceptions of God. This is not a problem to them because they maintain that it is only the limited aspects of individual perceptions of god that appear contradictory.
“as Wiccans, we acknowledge and worshiped the old gods and goddesses in the form both pleasing to Them and meaningful to us . . . “6
Why is Wicca attractive?
Wicca is attractive for many people who do not desire or appreciate absolute truths. In Wicca, a person is free to discover his or her own “path.” In other words, he or she is free to invent a religious system that suits his or her desires.
“If you are just beginning a study of paganism, you may need to evaluate many different traditions or paths before finding the one for which you are looking. Your chosen path in the old religion must be one that is uniquely suited to you as an individual and one that lets you speak to the Lord and Lady in your own fashion.”7
It should be obvious that Wicca is a religion of personal preference. In other words, you are free to invent, devise, and develop a religion that suits your personal wants and interests. Furthermore, in Wicca you may attempt to manipulate your surroundings and other individuals through spells and incantations. This combination of developing a religion that suits your personal preferences and trying to influence others is very appealing to a lot of people.
Just what does the bible have to say about such practices?
“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.“
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.“
Paganism, Wiccan worship, the belief that there are many gods, and that there is no one right answer. The belief that a person can worship any god of their own choosing and yet know the truth. Doesn’t this sound familiar? We see this happening throughout the world today folks! The melding of all religions into one, the practice of idolatry, sorcery, and incantations or witchcraft, leading us into the time of the end. People with depraved minds, seeking earthly pleasures, rejecting the things of God.
The Lord has spoken and told us what is right and what is wrong. The ways of the world lead to destruction and are an abomination and detestable to the Lord. Many have come to the point of hardening their hearts to the point of no return. They have blinded their eyes and turned their hearts to stone! They follow false gods and practice the traditions of men.
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.“
This is the world we now live in, depraved, insolent, arrogant, proud, without self-control, despising God and the things of God. The Lord has spoken and His words are always true, forever and evermore!
Many in the world will question your faith and beliefs in God. They will attempt to bring you down, to diminish your faith and change your beliefs. They will challenge you, question you, attempt to belittle you and degrade you and God Almighty!
Remember this, what is now happening in the world, the mocking, scoffing, and persecution that we receive from unbelievers is all part of bible prophecy! These people are actually fulfilling prophecy, whether they know it or not.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.”
And when we try to share the truth and love of Jesus Christ, they often become angry, irate, and offensive towards us! When we want nothing more than for them to be saved and go to heaven with us, they turn against us, often trying to tear us apart like ravenous wolves! Lets not forget what Jesus told us:
“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.“
In other words, do not share the things of God with unbelievers who will not hear it, and will persecute you for it. I know that I have been guilty of doing this, and even with the same commenters whom I have written about in this post. However, I do my best to give everyone a chance to give their opinions, even if I disagree or don’t like it. I will give people such as those mentioned even a second chance to post an additional follow-up comment, and I will share with them the gospel if I feel led, so that they will have heard. However, I will not let them continue to post degrading and disrespectful comments, in an attempt to tear down my faith and blaspheme the God who created us all!
“ And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.“
And this is what I shall do, shake off the dust and move on. When unbelievers do not receive what we are telling them to be the truth, then we should move on. If we continue to share the truth of God, and they don’t take it the right way, then what good is it doing? It will cause them to further distance themselves from God. At this point we can pray, pray, pray, share the love of God, and shine a light into the world.
Even if the world hates us, and even if the world persecutes us, we can still love them. We can show God’s love through caring, sharing, and helping those in need. We are the ambassadors of Christ! We are the light and salt of the earth. When they see us, they should see Christ in us and all around us. Amen.
We know the truth, because the truth is in us, we know God because He saved us, we love God because He first loved us! Our personal experience with God is our testimony to the world! He is risen, He is alive!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
