Commentary By: Gordon King
The days pass by one at a time, and life continues on as normal, eating and sleeping, working and playing. It seems as though each day will be the same, that how we live our life will not change until the day we die or once we are raptured out of here.
We will all suffer from pain and loss, from trials and tribulations, that is certain. Life is full of surprises, some good, some bad, and we never know just what tomorrow will bring.
What hope do we have in knowing that the world is changing, that it is not getting any better but worse?! If we can see the signs, if we take heed to the warnings of God, then we know the season, we know that we are living in the last days. And if we know that we are living in the last days, then we also know that the coming of the Lord is not far away.
Yet, just how many Christians aren’t watching the signs, just how many would rather just sweep it all underneath the carpet and forget about it? The world is blind to the signs of the times, and many believers are as well. They hide their heads in the sand, relying on the world to solve their problems and not God!
The good Lord told us to watch for the signs of the times in order to know that His coming is soon. He told us that there would be signs on earth and the heavens above signifying that time.
Ours is not to fear, nor be anxious, but to place our trust in Jesus Christ and His promises to us!
As believers in Jesus Christ, we should be doing what He said to do, and that includes watching and being ready. Knowing that the hour is drawing near, be ready, for the season is upon us! Draw near to God, seek Him first in all things, and rely not upon the world, but upon the promises of God.
Jesus Christ suffered a brutal death, being beaten and hung from a cross, all for sins which He did not commit, but for our sins. He was mocked and scorned for telling the truth. His words hold true today, and as Christ lives on in believers, He is still condemned by the world, mocked and scorned, victimized, persecuted, and put to death through his children.
Signs, just what do they mean, do we heed them or do we ignore them? Should we as believers be aware of the times, or should we continue on with life as normal, as if nothing significant were happening? Do we shine a light into the darkness, or do we hide from the world? Are we the salt of the world, or do we blend into the world, and live like the world does?
We all sin at times, we all stumble and fall, but we should get back up on our feet and repent to God. No one is perfect, not yet anyway. All of us will make some mistakes, not always listen to God’s voice or take His lead, but we must always remember to get back up and continue on down that straight and narrow path! God is all loving, His love for us is unconditional, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. He always loves us, even if we sin. He is ready to help us, to pick us back up again, and to lead us in the right direction.
Do not ignore the signs of the times. Take heed to what the good Lord is telling us, the forewarnings of things to come, including His return! Jesus told his disciples about the coming of the Holy Spirit before He came, so that they would believe.
“And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.“
Jesus also told us about the end times, about many signs to watch for, so that when they begin to happen we would know and also believe.
Our blessed hope is that the Savior will come for us soon! What better hope is there than that? Jesus Christ the Savior of the world, our Savior!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
