The Great Falling Away!

Falling away

Commentary By:  Gordon King

The End Times, the Last Days, the Falling Away, all happening now in the world in which we live!

And with each passing day, the darkness will seek to destroy and deceive even the elect!  With cunning deception and carefully crafted words, there are those who will attempt to change God’s words, to twist them into saying things that they do not.  Beware my friends, and test all things against the written word of God!  Yes, even the words contained on this blog.  In fact, I encourage you all to test everything that I have written, hold it up to God’s word and see if it is of the Holy Spirit!

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

1 Timothy 4:1-2

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

In the last days, scripture tells us that there will be a “falling away” from the faith, that many will abandon their beliefs in God, and instead follow the doctrines of demons!  I often wonder if these people were ever even saved in the first place?  I think not.

The falling away is apostasy, abandoning the beliefs in their God, rebelling against the Creator of the world.  These people who fall away will believe the doctrines of demons and give heed to deceiving spirits!  They will speak lies and believe them, leading others into destruction.

Do we see this happening now in the church?  Yes, we most certainly do!  There are those who claim to be believers in Jesus Christ, yet they also believe that there are many ways to heaven.  There are those who take the word of God and give it false interpretation, or take it out of the context in which it was written.  Many of these teachings will be very subtle, yet sound good.  Beware of such teachings, lean not on your own understanding, but follow the lead of the Holy spirit!

In these times of uncertainty, there will come those who proclaim what they say is the truth with boldness and certainty, yet theirs is not of the Holy Spirit.  Do not believe all things, until first testing them!  Place them in the context of scripture, what does God’s word really say?  Is what you are hearing truly what the Lord is telling you?  Does it seem as though something is just not right about it?  Does what you hear sound different in any way from what the scriptures say?  Is it biblical, sound, holy, and true to God?

Many people these days have itching ears, they want to hear things which make them feel good, and look good!  Beware of false teachers and false prophets, for many will come in the last days seeking to destroy and lead astray.

Matthew 24:23-24

“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.”

We must know what the bible tells us, we must also rightly divide the word of God!

2 Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Scripture is often taken out of context and can be made to say or not say many things.  We need to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help us God!  Not rightly dividing the word of God happens for many reasons, sometimes by ignorance, other times to serve an ego, yet at other times it is done purposefully and maliciously!

Whatever the reason, it doesn’t really matter much, what does matter is getting it right.  Adhering to the word of God is not just a good thing to do, it is essential in our walk with God!

The Great Falling Away!  It is written that it will happen in the last days, and we see it happening now.  Why would such a thing happen in the end times?  Because, the world is becoming darker, and those not actually following the Lord will be weeded out before the Tribulation period begins, before the rapture of the church!

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Once the church is raptured, the Tribulation period will begin (this is my belief from scripture), then those who did not believe the truth will be given a strong delusion, that they may believe the lie!  Those who have fallen away will be part of this group, for they did not believe the truth and took pleasure in unrighteousness.

The times are becoming darker, the falling away is growing, and those taking pleasure in unrighteousness abound.  If this is true, then just how much longer before the rapture of the church?  How much longer before our Lord and Savior comes to meet us in the clouds, completing His good work in us?  I don’t know, but with all of these things happening at what seems like break neck speed, I couldn’t imagine that it will be much longer.

And for this reason it is so very important to walk with God on a daily basis.  Understand what you read and what you hear.  Test all things, and don’t just take someone’s word for it!  Listen to the Holy Spirit whom God has placed inside of you.  Know the truth, and be able to discern the truth from lies.

Jesus Christ, please give us all the wisdom, the knowledge, and the ability to discern the truth from lies.  Help us to understand Your ways, and make Your will known to us.  Forgive us of our sins, and help us to love those who are lost.  Have mercy upon us Lord, and may Your glory shine down upon us all!  In Jesus precious name I pray.  Amen.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

Thank you Gordon. I believe the falling away has happened, The Church in the UK is so silent there is truly a famine of Hearing the Word of the Lord. So few believe in the Rapture , there is no mention of it! I believe if they did believe The Rapture was imminent they would buy oil for their lamps and keep them burning and there would be a sense of urgency in prayer and witnessing so that some may be saved from having to suffer what is to come.
    God Bless and Maranatha1

      Thank you Christine!

I believe that the falling away has begun, yet it will get worse. Those not truly saved will continue to fall away, those close to The Lord will become more righteous and holy! And The Lord will pour out His Spirit, seeking those who are willing to perform His will.

      God Bless! Maranatha!

Hi Gordon, great article : ) Tried to post it to Facebook and they blocked it : ( Did get it on my Prophecy News Twitter though. Just thought I’d let you know, I hope they’re not censoring.

      Thank you so much Lorrona!

Wow! I can’t believe they blocked it! On the other hand I guess that I can. I heard that Facebook took off a user who posted violence against Palestinians, yet they did not take off a user who posted violence against Jews! Apparently this was a test to see just what Facebook would do.

Sounds to me like Facebook is “antiChrist”, or at the very least biased in many ways!

Censorship is coming, seems like sooner then later!

      God bless sister!

    Well said Gordon.
In extending your comments with biblical passages, have you had a chance to read, look at endtimepilgrim.org/gomer.htm – it’s an extensive look back into history and lead us right into this present day and age. It begins with the story of Gomer and Hosea, not just a prophecy of Israel but of all the covenant people of God. Speaks of the 10 lost tribes, of antisemitism toward David’s throne, and much more leading to today. It richly encourages that God has always been and always will be with us. I wholeheartedly recommend it. A wonderful read.

May God enlighten and widen the horizon of every individual reading this biblically and historical lesson of Gomer and Hosea. And how their story relates to Israel and Christianity as a whole. May you come out with a better understanding of God’s marvel and love for us. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. God bless.

    Hi Gordon.

I’ve also heard about that example from f.book blocking agendas against Palestinians, but not against Jews.
This I guess is the antichrist spirit working which we can read about in the Bible.

About the “catching away” (or rapture) I was very sure in the same thing as you say here in the post. (Before tribulation)
I’m not so sure anymore, but instead of making a discussion about it I rather say something else.

Jesus will return! – It’s no doubt about it.
It’s actually only three things to remember:

    1) Continue to spread the word as Jesus commanded us to do.
    2) Be prepared at any time for his return. He can come at any time.
    3) If you understand that the tribulation is a reality, don’t ever miss your faith. That means only that it was not like we thought, but his words is still 100% true.

It is complicated to understand everything, and I’m very sure Jesus know it would be like this.
But I beg everyone never to loose the faith.
Keep your heart warm. That’s all that really matter.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts Oystein!

I do very firmly believe in a pre-Tribulation rapture of the church, and I believe that we are told so throughout scripture. But, like you said, I am not going to argue about it. However, I do believe that it is important to our faith. We need to be ready at all times. Jesus tells us this. We need to be ready for the imminent return of Jesus Christ, and only the pre-Tribulation view adheres to that train of thought!

The most important thing that we could do is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We all need to maintain our faith, walk with God, and further develop our relationship with Him before we get to heaven! Amen?

      God bless and Maranatha!

    Totally agree Gordon!
I have the same view and the same blessed hope as you believe in.
I know Jesus come back to earth to establish his kingdom, I’m not only 100% sure when it will be.
That doesn’t mean I’m not waiting for him every day.
And I’m also agree that if someone discuss this topic, it has to be in a polite way.
I’ve seen too much discussions that goes on in what I will call a “rude way between believers”.
If believers can not be respectful against each others, how can we then get respect from non-believers which we are commanded to tell the gospel to?

When that is said, you always seems to treat everyone in a very good and polite way.
You have to be a good man for God.
    And your website is excellent.

      Thank you brother Oystein!

I appreciate your thoughts and kind words!

You know, it’s often difficult to discuss these matters through written text. Many times we can come across as being rude or disrespectful, when we are really just trying to make a point. I hope and pray that I have not offended you in any way.

I believe with all of my heart that the rapture is pre-Tribulation. However, that does not mean you cannot believe in mid, post, or no Trib! You believe what you feel in your heart and spirit is correct, just as I do. Sometimes I may come across as arrogant or rude, but I am just very confident in my beliefs. Like I said before, I mean no harm or disrespect.

Wait until you read my last post! You will really think that I am being rude and obnoxious! However, that is not my intention. I’m just trying to make my point of a pre-Tribulation rapture of the church, why I believe it, and why it makes the most sense to me.

God is good Oystein, He loves us all so very much! May we follow His lead and do the same!

      God bless my friend! Maranatha!
