Commentary By: Gordon King
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I can perform the will of my Father in heaven, not of my own accord, but by His strength.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
When times are tough, when the going becomes more than I can bear, I look not within myself, but to Him who gives me life!
We can do nothing of our own accord, but through the Holy Spirit we can do all things!
And when we stumble and fall, and we will stumble, we can rest assured that God Almighty will be there to pick us back up and help us along the way.
For the flesh is weak, but the spirit is strong, and they wrestle with each other on a daily basis. The ways of the world will try to entice us into their sins, into falling away from God. The flesh seeks what is ungodly, but the spirit seeks the things of God.
Knowing these things gives us the upper hand so to speak.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
The lack of knowledge destroys people! God has given us His knowledge so that we may live, and we may live abundantly. So that we can do all things through the power of Christ!
The world is a difficult place for believers, it is evil, sinful, and wicked. We can succumb to feelings of fear, anxiety, and doubt. Yet, He who is in us is stronger than he who is in the world! Amen.
So, when you feel down and out, when you have feelings of doubt and uncertainty, when you feel like God isn’t there or He doesn’t hear you, know this, that God is always with you, that He lives in and through you, that He will never forsake you, that He is greater than all, and that He is already victorious!
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
