Commentary By: Gordon King
No one knows when Christ will return for His bride, no one knows when the Tribulation Period will begin. The timing of these events are mysteries, known only to our Father in heaven.
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.“
And while we do not know the exact time, we will know the season, for Jesus Himself gave us warning signs to watch for, in order for us to know that His return is near, even at the door!
‘Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.‘
All of the signs which Jesus spoke of are here now, but what we don’t know is just how bad these things will get before His return for the church and the beginning of the Tribulation Period.
We are to watch and be ready at all times, this is a command from our Lord and Savior. Be ready, be watching, and be prepared. Do not slumber, do not fall away, for He is coming at a time at a time we do not know, like a thief in the night!
Ours is not to fear, but to put on the armor of God in order to fight the good fight, to perform God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.“
1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.“
Do not fear the world, for God is with us, He is our Helper, our Protector, our Strength!
“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
As children of the Most High God of the universe, we have peace and comfort from above, given to us by the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ!
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Take comfort in knowing that God is always with us, that He is helping us, that He is our strength, and that He gives us peace, true peace!
So even though the world is falling apart, and even though wickedness abounds, we can be strong, courageous, and filled with peace and comfort from our Lord, Jesus Christ!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
