(SOURCE)   Police are searching for a gunman who killed one and left another person wounded at the Winston-Salem State University campus early Sunday.

Jarrett Jerome Moore is wanted in connection with the shooting.

The North Carolina university posted a statement on its Facebook page confirming the incident. The school said a shooting was reported in the area of Lot W near Wilson Hall and Gleason-Hairston Terrace. The campus was placed on lockdown at 1:30 a.m. and the lockdown was lifted at 4:50 a.m.

Both victims are believed to be students, according to the statement.

Students were told via the school’s Twitter account to stay inside and to secure themselves in a room. Students who were off campus at the time were told not to come back until the lockdown was lifted.

Winston-Salem police initially told WXII they were searching for a gunman on campus. Homicide investigators were also called to campus to investigate reports of a possible shooting.

Forsyth EMS told WXII that at least one person was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but didn’t specify the person’s condition.
