Believing the Truth!

Seek and you will find

Commentary By:  Gordon King

The times are tough and getting even tougher as time goes by.  Unrelenting evil and violence is taking its toll upon the world.  Many will become victims of unmitigated and heinous crimes, many will fall for the doctrines of demons.

The secular world will tell us what the truth is in their eyes, religious leaders from many different religions will tell us what the truth is in their eyes, and Christians will tell the world what the truth is in their eyes.  So who do we believe?  Is there but one truth?  Should we believe everything that we hear, or should we seek out the ultimate truth?!

This is where it becomes a difficult task for an unbelieving world.  Where darkness meets light, and where those who cannot see will be misled by the deception of the world.  Lies will be made appealing and pleasant to the eyes, and soothing to the ears.

There is absolutely no way that an unsaved person can see the truth without first being allowed by God.

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

This last verse says that the god of this age has blinded them, however, there are many more verse which say that God blinds the eyes of the unbelievers.

John 12:40

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.”

So this seems a bit confusing, the god of this age and God Almighty both blind the eyes of the unbelievers.  Yet, God Almighty allows this to happen.

Why is it that the unbelievers eyes are blinded?  Why would God not allow unbelievers to see the truth so that they may be saved?  I don’t know all of the answers to this question, however, I believe that there are more than one.

God is holy, righteous, and pure.  Sin cannot stand close to God.  When we sin we distance ourselves from God.  Sinning not only distances us from God, but it distances us from the attributes of God!  It distances us from the truth!

We sin from having a sinful heart, but also from being tempted by Satan and his demons.  The more we sin, the more we are blinded from the truth!  We in effect, blind ourselves by sinning.  God allows this to happen because He is righteous, holy, and just.  Anything unrighteous cannot stand next to God.

Some will argue that this could not be true, because Satan stands before God accusing His children.  All that I can say is “You’re right!, I don’t have an answer for that.”  But I do know that God allows it, that’s all I can say at this point in time.

God allows sin to happen, He allows evil to escalate.  But, He also has a plan, and He won’t allow it forever!

Sinning blinds us from the truth!  The more we sin the more we harden our hearts, blind our eyes, and deafen our ears to the truth!

However, I also believe that while we live in sin, if we seek the absolute truth, if we honestly seek it out, then God will soften our hearts, open our eyes and ears to the truth!  When we yearn to be close to God, then God will come closer to us.

Jeremiah 29:13

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”

This is also true for believers in Jesus Christ!  Although we have been saved, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit forever, we can still distance ourselves from the Lord.  We can lose our close relationship with God, Jesus Christ.

This is why it is so important to know when you sin, to repent of your sin as soon as you can, ask the Lord to forgive you, and keep your eyes on God and the things of heaven above!  By doing this we will repel the hardening of our hearts and the blinding of our eyes to the truth.  We will be able to discern what is right and what is wrong.  We will not grieve the Holy Spirit within us!

Have you ever noticed that not all believers in Jesus Christ see the world the same way as you do?  Have you noticed that many do not believe that we are living in the last days?  That many Christians do not relate bible prophecy with events occurring in the world today?  Why is that?  I believe that many Christians do not have a close relationship with the Lord.  That many cannot see the whole truth, cannot discern the good from the evil.  This is sad, yet true.  They are saved, born-again, yet their relationship with Jesus Christ is lacking.  It will not affect their salvation, however, it will affect their relationship with God and their effectiveness for Christ in the world.

Another reason that so many people are blinded to the truth, is that when they meet Christians who are not kind, not loving, and instead live like the world, they turn away!  They don’t want to be a part of a religion like that.

We must shine our light, be kind, loving, generous, and forgiving!  This is how we share the truth with an unbelieving world.  This is how the Lord softens hearts and opens blinded eyes!  He does it through believers.

The truth is that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, He is the only way to heaven.  There is no other way but through Jesus Christ!  Jesus Christ is God, and God loves everyone and wants no one to perish!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  2. I agree with you Gordon, a relationship with God is the key. Truth is revealed by faith in His word. Prophecy comes alive; decernment is shown by believing, trusting the Word, not our own judgment.
Humbling ourselves in prayer, asking to see and hear clearly His message, not our perceived notions of what it means. This is where many loose the true message being reveal, loose the connection with the Father. Our Father in heaven is pure and righteous through His Son we are made pure and righteous in His sight. We cannot be arrogant in our thoughts but be humble and trust, coming to Him with honesty in truly wanting to know truth.
Sometimes we can’t see because it isn’t what we want to hear and this is a bitter pill to swallow. Our mortal minds won’t let us. Letting the Word speak through the pages of Scriptures’, putting time into searching wherelse in the Book it speaks of the passages we’re looking into, will give us the understanding. God will open our heart only if/when we let Him in. That’s where it all begins… Jesus opens the door to the Father who loves us. And the Holy Spirit guides us to truth.
    God bless. Maranatha!

  3. Hello brother,
    Good articles!
I read your articles. I feel that you speak through the holy spirit. Keep going!

It is true that we have a heavenly Father and Jesus is the only way.

Our heavenly Father is holy.It is true that what is good in His eyes is good. We can be good only when we speak, act through the holy spirit. We fight in our lives on what is good and bad. Different people have different opinions and views which are not the truth. Jesus is the truth.

Keep growing in Christ’s love! Keep praying for us and for our brothers and sisters!
Keep informing about Christ’s glorious return!

    With brotherly love.
