Commentary By: Gordon King
When tragedy strikes people reach out to other people, especially so if all are involved. Pain, suffering, and disaster often bring people out of their shell and out to help each other. Have you ever witnessed a tragedy at home or work, maybe a fire. All the neighbors come running out into the street to see who they can help. They offer food, shelter, clothing, and medical supplies. The same is true with God, people come running to Him when the chips are down, when they are in the middle of a crisis and need His help.
Pain and suffering, trials and tribulations often bring people out of their shell and back to God. It brings the saved back, yet it also brings the lost to salvation!
I have heard it said recently that millions of Muslims throughout the Middle East are renouncing their faith and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Amen
Why is this phenomenon now occurring? What now brings them to the realization that Jesus Christ is the one true God?
Many reasons, many factors are involved in this occurrence. First of all, God is opening the eyes of the blind and softening once hardened hearts. Second, tragedy, the Middle East is in turmoil, full of war, death, hatred, evil, violence, and confusion. Millions of refugees have fled from war-torn Syria into Jordan, Iraq, and Turkey. Iranians, most of them young, are becoming disenfranchised with Islam and their leaders. And even many more Muslims in Iraq and Syria are becoming the victims of the Islamic State, which in turn leads them away from their faith.
So with all of the bad and evil happening around the world, God is bringing good from it. He is saving millions of souls which would otherwise have been lost for eternity!
The same holds true for the Tribulation period. God will pour out His wrath upon a wicked and unbelieving world. What would He do that for? Because the world has been rebelling against God for thousands of years, because they are stubborn, hard-headed, proud, and arrogant. God has shown the world over and over and over again what He will do if we keep rebelling against Him. God pours out His wrath in a last attempt to save lost souls, in order for them to repent and accept Him, however most will not during this time period. He will let the evil grow to such a heinous state that enough will finally be enough! He will not let it go on forever, there will be an end to the evil and madness. But, God is long-suffering, and wishes for no one to perish!
God does not delight in destroying the wicked, on the contrary, He came to save them and give them eternal life through the blood of His only Son Jesus Christ. Yet, even with the horrible wrath that God will soon pour out upon the world, most at that time will still continue to rebel against Him and even curse Him. Unbelievable, yet true.
God knows that through pain and suffering many people will repent of their sins and accept Him as God. He knows that love, kindness, and forgiveness can also come from tragedy. He knows that the more we go through in life, the closer we can become to Him.
Think about this for a moment, if nothing bad ever happened to us in our lives, if all we ever experienced was pleasure, happiness, joy, and abundance, how many people would be close to God? How many people would take the time to thank the Lord daily, to read His word daily, to bow down to our Creator and say that we love Him and all that He has done? Not many I would expect. How many of these individuals would really appreciate what they have in life? Who would know the difference from pleasure and pain, or happiness and loneliness? If we had everything that we needed in life, then why would we need God? After-all, He is our Provider. But just how many people would kneel down and thank Him, would praise Him, would honor Him?
That’s my point, we would rely solely on ourselves and not on God. Don’t we already see enough of this in society today? People climbing the corporate ladder, reaching for the top rung, making it big. People more concerned with their “self” then with others. Many people nowadays saying that they are their own god. Don’t believe me? I have spoken to several of these people myself. And many others claiming to be spirit guides, palm readers, tarot card readers, psychics, mediums, white witches, and much more.
God is the giver of life itself, our Savior, Provider, Healer, Comforter, and Friend. We need to know that we need God and that without Him we are doomed to eternal disaster! The only super power in the universe is God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, all separate entities yet one Trinity, one God.
Remember when you are in the midst of pain and suffering, God has a plan, and it will work out for the good of those that love Him, those called according to His purpose. God is with us, He shall never leave us nor forsake us. His love is unconditional and never-ending, it remains forever!
As a believer in Jesus Christ know that God hears your cries of pain. He knows what you are going through and sympathizes with you, even with tears. Believe that He will help you and He will!
For those of you who are not yet believers in Jesus Christ, I strongly urge you to consider accepting Him now! Our time on this planet is very short, shorter than you might think. God loves you more than you could ever imagine, yes everyone in the world. He will forgive you of any sin, be it murder, adultery, child pornography, lust, greed, hate, pride, sexual perversions, homosexuality, theft, envy, or unforgiveness. All will be forgiven.
Repent of your sins and believe that Jesus Christ is God, that He died for you on a cross, shed His blood, was buried in a tomb for three days, then arose and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. Ask Him to forgive you, ask Him to come into your life and be your Lord and Savior. That’s it, you’ve been saved, born-again! Amen
