Commentary By: Gordon King
Love God, honor God, trust God, because He is God.
Desire to be close to God for who He is, not for what you can get from Him. Love God because He loves us! Because He died for us and has given us His mercy and grace.
Jesus Christ, God Almighty, Lord of the universe, the one and only true God! There is no other God. Love Him because He is our Creator.
God is love, and if we are truly saved then we will love Him back. We will be filled with His Holy Spirit of love.
As Christians are we not ourselves a part of God? Are we merely physical beings indwelt by the Holy Spirit, or are we more than that?
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
We are new creations of God, all things have become new. We have been reconciled by God to Himself. The things of this world which kept us separated from God have been washed clean, we have been made righteous and holy in the eyes of God.
We are temples of God.
1 Corinthians 6:19
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;”
When we believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and repent of our sins, we are forgiven. By the blood of Jesus we have been washed clean, we become a new creation in God. As children of God, we are His offspring, we belong to Him and Him alone, He is our Father.
As children we love our parents, not because they buy us things or take us places like Disneyland, but because they are our parents! We love them because they love us, because of who they are, not what they do for us. It should be the same with God, we love Him not because of what He can do for us, but because of who He is! Just a thought here, heaven will be a much better place than Disneyland!
I love God because He loves me, He cares for me, and I don’t want to be without Him. I desire to know Him better, and to have a closer relationship with Him. That’s not to say that I don’t want the promises of God, or the gifts of the Holy Spirit, of course I do, but that’s not my main focus with God.
Jesus Christ loved us so much that He gave His life for us. Shouldn’t we love Him back just the same?
This world will get even more difficult to live in as the days go by. We need to have a close relationship with the Lord. Stay close to God, love Him with all of your heart, your mind, and your soul, do this and He will provide you with all of your needs and even more!
God bless my friends! Until next time…..Maranatha!
