Love one another in deeds not words alone

Matthew 5 16

Commentary By:  Gordon King

The love of God surpasses all understanding.  The human mind cannot comprehend the fullness of God’s love for us.

Ephesians 3:19

“to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

God loves us without a spoken word, yet we know through experience with Him in life that He does love us.  As Christians we are to be “Christ like”, meaning that we should be like Christ and act like Christ acted.

Too many people in the world today say things that they do not mean.  They spew words from their mouths which have no value and are meaningless.  Yet we often see it day in and day out.  What prospers a man to speak empty words without actions to back them up?  This is foolishness.  It’s very easy to say something that we don’t really mean.  However, it takes on a different connotation when we act them out towards the love of others.

The bible tells us not to love others with words, but to love others through our deeds, with our good works in truth.

1 John 3:18-19

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.”

The world is filled with politicians spewing good words, yet just how often do they actually follow-up in action?  Leaders around the world spew forth words of peace and safety, love and tolerance, yet just how often do they actually act just the opposite from what they have spoken?  This is hypocrisy, lies, and untruths, straight from the pit of hell.

Let us not follow the examples of these hypocritical leaders, but follow the examples set forth by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  For Jesus not only spoke words of love and kindness, but followed up by example, by His good works.

It’s a good thing to speak lovingly and kind to others, but let us follow-up with good works.  With works which are led by the truth.  Let us not fall victim to the workings of the evil one.  Remember my friends, it’s not what goes into a man’s mouth which defiles him, but what comes out!

Show the world who you are and glorify God by acting in the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  2. I totally agree, “Actions speak louder than words!”. And shows one’s true colors…
Love is replaced with a surface, superfluous and superficial kind of love, lost is an agape, strong conviction kind, Our Lord has for us. The one we all should emulate. What a different world it would be if we only truly cared and loved one another… God bless us all.
    Maranatha!
Thank you Gordon, pray all is well with you.

  3. Thanks SweetJava. I am well physically but under a spiritual attack for the past two weeks and I really have not felt well. I could use your prayers. God bless!
