God Loves You!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

The world has a way of letting us down.  People often mislead and misguide us.  When times are tough and our chips are down many people turn their back and walk away.  Where is the loyalty, the trust?  If you can’t count on a friend or family member then who can you count on?

When the world is full of anger, hatred, evil and violence, it doesn’t take much to become overwhelmed and disenfranchised.  The hope we have for the future seems to melt away in our hands, like holding onto a chocolate bar in the sun.  Everything around us takes on a new meaning and nothing really matters so much anymore.

The world is a difficult place to live.  So much drama, so much discontent, confusion, and selfishness.  What seems to matter most in the world today is “self”.  Being proud, self-reliant, boastful, and arrogant are the terms of the day guiding people towards empty dreams.  The end of the rainbow with the pot of gold is never found.

People are more concerned with what they can get for themselves, what the world can do for them.  When we should be concerned about what we can do for those who need us in the world, those who are hurting, in pain, and suffering.  Helping each other to live a full and abundant life.  Caring, sharing, and giving.  These should be the terms of the day!

Is this how it’s supposed to be?  Being self-centered, proud and arrogant?  Are we meant to live a life of what can I do for myself and the rest can fend for themselves?  Was it meant for the weak and needy to just fall by the wayside?

When those around us are in pain and suffering are we to just turn and walk in the opposite direction?  When we ourselves are hurting and in need, do we just give up?  Where do we go and who do we have to turn to?  Why is the world so difficult and self-centered?

Well my friends the truth is that the world was not meant to be like this.  We were created to be loving, giving, caring and faithful.  In the beginning there was no such thing as being “self-centered”, “arrogant”, “proud”, and “disloyal”.  The world was a perfect place.

The first humans Adam and Eve were made perfect.  Perfect until they disobeyed God.  Then they entered into sin, and sin entered into them!  The world has never been the same since that time in history.  However, there is a way out, a way to become more like how we were meant to be.  God created us in His image, to be like Him.

God loved His first created human beings more than anything!  And He loves us the same.  He loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son as a living sacrifice for our sins, so that we could have eternal life with Him.  But there is so much more than that.  He came not only to save us but to be with us and to give us life here on earth more abundantly!

Once you are saved and become a Christian, you have God with you always!  You may not hear Him, see Him, or feel Him, but He is there always.  His Holy Spirit will dwell within you.  He is the one we should turn to when we are down in the dumps, when we are suffering, in pain, and in need.  It is God and God alone who will provide all of our needs.  He is our Friend, our Comforter, and our Provider.

So if you are feeling down, lonely and depressed, remember that God loves you more than anything!  His desire is to love you, help you, and provide for you.  We cannot trust the world to be there for us in times of need, but we can trust God.  He will never forsake us, He shall never leave us, unlike people in the world.

The real rainbow is salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, and the pot of gold is eternal life!
