Overwhelming Burdens!

Jesus Psalm 55 copy

Commentary By:  Gordon King

With all of the struggles in the world today, it can often become overwhelming dealing with all that life throws at us!  As believers in Jesus Christ, He tells us that His yolk is easy and His burden is light.

Matthew 11:30

“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I’ve had many thoughts about this lately.  Many discussions with God.  How could God give us so many burdens, how could He weigh us down with such pain and suffering?  If Jesus told us that His burden was light, and we follow Him daily, then why such hardship?

The older I get, the more that I experience in life as a Christian, the more that I realize it’s not me.  It’s not about me and what I can do for myself, but about God and what He can do for me.

I don’t know about you, but I have had more than my share of burdens over the past several years!  God knows that I have.  I deal with them each and everyday.  The hardship, the pain, the suffering.  At times it does seem a bit overwhelming.  Yet I know that God is with me.  I know that without Him at the center of my life right now, I would not be able to cope!

We all need to see what God is doing for us, and not question why is He letting us go through these things.  There is a reason for everything, and for everything there is a reason.  God has a plan for each and every one of us.  If we believe and follow Him, then all will work out for our good.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

So although many of us as believers suffer, know that there is a reason.  God will turn the pain and suffering into our good.  This can be difficult to understand at times, and difficult to swallow.  Yet we must remember that God’s words are true and faithful.  We must take Him at His word, and believe in His promises.

When I was speaking to God, I asked Him why?  Why must I suffer and go through these burdens in my life?  This is what He told me in my heart, and in my spirit:

“I love you and I am with you always.  I will be with you all along the way.  The burdens you suffer are for your good.  They will cleanse you and purify you.  They shall make you more holy and righteous.  The burdens that you carry will glorify My name.  With Me you shall endure burdens, without Me you are unable to endure the same burdens.  This is how they shall know that I AM who I say that I AM.  Be of good cheer and know that I AM God.  Bear the fruit of the spirit, and shine your light into a dark world.”

This is what God told me, and I believe Him!  You see, it’s not about us or what we can do, what we can handle on our own.  It’s about God.  It’s about living for God, with God, and letting Him shine through us.

We all have burdens to bear.  We all suffer hardship and pain.  As believers in Jesus Christ, this is no different, in fact probably worse!  As Christians we will suffer hardship, persecution, trials, and tribulation.  We shall suffer as Christ also suffered.  This is to glorify our Father in heaven.

Matthew 19:26

‘But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

This is what we must remember, with God all things are possible, without out Him we are doomed to destruction!  God takes our burdens upon Himself if we let Him.  He lightens our load and makes our burdens manageable.  Without Him in our life, our burdens would be overwhelming and unmanageable.

Give your burdens to God and let Him carry the load!  This is what I have learned and am still learning.  He is there, He is with us, He will help us.  It’s not what we can do for ourselves, but what God can and will do for us!  This is to glorify God and His name, Amen.  We should not try to solve our problems alone, nor should we face them alone.  Seek first the kingdom of God, and He shall help you!  Give them over to the Lord, ask for His guidance, follow His lead.  He is the one who will tackle the problem.  What can we do of our own accord?

I don’t have all of the answers.  I don’t know all the other reasons for our suffering, if there are any.  But one day, one day in heaven, I pray that the Good Lord gives us the answers and makes things clear to us.

As Christians we will suffer pain, persecution, trials and tribulations.  This is a fact.  It’s not if, but when and how will we respond?  Will we let God be in control?  Will we turn our burdens over to Him?  He’s waiting to carry the load!

He is with us, He loves us, He comforts us and gives us peace.  He will carry our burdens and lighten our load if we allow Him to.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Very well said, Gordon.
I believe Our Good Lord is making us stronger mentally and spiritually to prepare us for the even bigger battle(s) that’s coming. Worst things are going to happen as the world has rejected His saving grace, Him.
All prophecy must be fulfilled whether we choose to believe or not, unfortunately most do not understand this (read the Scriptures or are taught). A great shakening needs to occur before they do comprehend, before they realize that God is in charge and in control. One is either for Him and with Him or not.
God gave us the freedom to choose (free will) to accept or reject Him. There’s blessings and curses, there’s also going through the fire for a bigger purpose. Everything is revealed in its due season. We’re to hang in there and constantly be in prayer ‘ask and it shall be given’, not just the basic needs but strength, courage, patience, wisdom. Now is the time to choose wisely, be protected and the yoke made more manageable. The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ, the only way, truth and life is in Jesus. It’s having a personal relationship with Our Creator. And be worthy to stand at the last trumpet sound.
May Our Lord refine us to His will, may He prepare us to be able to accept and conquer what’s to come. In Jesus’ Holy name, Amen. He has won the war, and with Him we can conquer the battles we face now and in the near future. God bless us all.
