Commentary By: Gordon King
God has told us much about Himself and the world in which we live through His word, the bible. Yet, there was much not written at that time because the people were not yet ready to hear it. God will reveal to us the times and give us the discernment to understand the times.
“12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”
John then goes on to tell us that when the Holy Spirit of God comes to us, He will guide us in all truth. He will tell us things which are to come. We will not be ignorant of the times as long as we have the Holy Spirit within us and listen to what He is telling us.
“13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.“
God not only came to save the world, but He came to give life and to give it more abundantly. Whatever belongs to Christ, the Holy Spirit will give it to us, it is written. All that belongs to the Father belongs to Christ, and all that belongs to Christ the Holy Spirit will declare it to us.
” 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.“
Whatever we ask in the name of Jesus will be given to us. This does not mean that we can have whatever we want if it is not in God’s will for us to have. If it is God’s will for us to have it and we ask in the name of Jesus, then we shall have it.
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
God wants us to be happy and ready to perform His will on earth as it is in heaven. He has equipped us with all that is necessary to perform this task. All we need to do is ask in the name of Jesus and He will give it to us.
The Lord has made ready our way and provided us with all that we need to succeed. He will tell us what is to come, give us discernment, and whatever we need to accomplish His will. In fact, if we love Him and obey Him, then He will give us our hearts desire and fill us with joy.
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.“
God has all that we need to perform His will on earth. We as Christians have access to all that God has. He wishes for us to be happy, joyful, and at peace. We are to live with the abundance of all that He has to offer, if we only ask.
God bless my friends, until next time!
