Commentary By: Gordon King
It deeply saddens me to see what is taking place in the world today. All of the evil, violence, crime, hatred, murder, and destruction! The apathetic attitude many people seem to have regarding all of these things. My heart cries out to God, in pain, sorrow, and grief! Why oh Lord, why must the world suffer from atrocities such as these?
The fact is that I know what’s coming, I know what the world will endure. But, this doesn’t make it any better, nor does it make it any easier to swallow. My heart bleeds for the souls of those enduring persecution, pain, and suffering. My spirit is grieved, and my soul is uneasy. Tears flow from my eyes, like the blood of the martyrs, the slaying of the innocent!
The evil and the wicked shall receive just punishment. This is a promise from God.
“I will punish the world for its evil,
And the wicked for their iniquity;
Only though the blood of Jesus can they be forgiven. Until that time, they shall continue in sin, willfully conducting vile demonic acts of hatred and violence. The world will continue to degrade, to become darker and more demonic until the return of Christ.
Ours is not to question why, but to understand that God is in control. That He has a will and a purpose for all things.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
“The Lord has made all for Himself,
Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.”
So although we know that God is in control, it can be difficult not to question God. Not to ask Him why must these things take place? Being spiritual, being righteous, being of God, one can feel the pain, the suffering, and the sorrow. This is not a bad thing, but a good thing. It means that we are not desensitized to the evil around us. That we have a soft heart, and a spirit of and for God.
I know what’s coming to the world, I can sense it, I can feel the closeness of it. I fear not for myself, but for those who are not saved. For those with hearts of stone, with blinded eyes and deaf ears. My heart aches for them, as well as for the innocent victims of violence and tragedy. Each and everyday I read stories of people whose lives are turned upside-down by these events. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming, it brings tears to my eyes and my heart aches!
Verses of scripture remind me that God is in control, that He is with me, and that He is my strength and my helper.
“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Our time is short, the world is quickly changing. What is today, may not be tomorrow. There is no peace or security in the world or its ways. The only true peace and security is having a relationship with Jesus Christ!
God Bless my friends! Until next time…..
