GREENSBORO, N.C. – A fight between patrons leaving several clubs the S. Elm Street and Lewis Street area erupted in gunfire early Saturday morning.
The exchange of gunfire killed 1 person and injured 3 others.
According to Greensboro Police, several officers in the area heard the shots and responded on foot to the scene.
A Greensboro Police officer shot of the subjects that was actively shooting in an attempt to stop the assault.
The shooter was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The other wounded people were transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening wounds.
There is no other information on the victims at this time.
The Greensboro Police will investigate the officer’s use of force to determine if the shooting was lawful and followed departmental policies.
The officer will be placed on administrative duties while the internal investigations are ongoing.
No officers were injured during the incident.
