SPRING, Texas (AP/KPRC) — Authorities say “multiple fatalities” have been reported from a shooting at a home in a northern suburb of Houston.
Deputies told KPRC, the NBC affiliate in Houston, seven people were shot and at least six of those people were killed.
Harris County Precinct 4 Assistant Chief Deputy Constable Mark Herman says the Wednesday evening shooting apparently arose from a breakup in the family who lived in the house. He says a woman who was wounded identified the gunman and warned that he planned to kill more people at another relative’s home.
Herman said a child died after being airlifted to a Houston hospital, adding that the woman and child were the only victims still alive when deputies arrived.
The victims range in age from five to 40 years old.
The suspect led police on a 30 minute chase and is currently in an hours-long standoff with police. Deputies say the shooter is a relative, according to KPRC.
