Jesus Christ is Coming Soon!

Many people including myself believe that we are living in the end times.  That we are in the last days as described throughout the bible.  Why do we believe such things?  Because the bible tells us so.  If we are true Christians then we should believe the bible to be the true, infallible, written word of God.  As the apostle Paul writes:

2 Timothy 3:16-17

^“16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.“

The bible and Jesus Himself gives us warning signs to watch for His coming.  Once again in a letter from Paul to Timothy:

2 Timothy 3:1-7

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

^“1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! ⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, ⁷ always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

2 Timothy 3:12-13

^“12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. ¹³ But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

The apostle Matthew also writes of the signs of the times preceding Christs return.  Jesus tells us that no one knows the hour of His return, and commands us to watch.

Matthew 24:3-14

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

^“3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

⁴ And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. ⁵ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. ⁶ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows.

⁹ “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. ¹¹ Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. ¹² And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. ¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Matthew 24:36-44

No One Knows the Day or Hour

^“36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. ³⁷ But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ³⁸ For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, ³⁹ and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ⁴⁰ Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. ⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. ⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. ⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

The apostle Luke also warns us of the end time, warning us to watch and pray always.

Luke 21:34-36

The Importance of Watching

³⁴ “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. ³⁵ For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

 The warning signs are here, they are happening all around us.  The ways of man are exactly as predicted they would be.  The tensions in the Middle East and in particular Jerusalem, are extremely bad and getting worse day by day.  The prophet of the Old Testament Zechariah also writes of future prophecy regarding the end times and the city of Jerusalem.  Jerusalem is surely a very heavy stone for the entire world.  The fact that Israel even exists today is a prophecy come true for the end times.

Zechariah 12:2-3

² “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. ³ And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.”

Zechariah 12:9

^{9 “}It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”

Zechariah also prophecies about end time Israel, and the Jews crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which was yet to happen. 

Zechariah 12

¹⁰ “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”

The world as described in the above bible passages certainly sounds like the world we live in today.  Not only does it sound the same, it seems to be getting more and more like it each day.  We also see famines, disease, earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars, all of which are getting worse and more intense.  We see false prophets and false teachers, evil doers and deceivers.  Many churches seem to be falling away from the truth as well, accepting what is evil and wicked.  Performing gay marriages and refusing to support Israel.  The Pope himself is inviting Jew and Muslim to worship together at the Vatican!  Many Christian leaders are inviting Muslim leaders to come together in prayer and worship as well.  Hence the term “Chris-Lam”!  Blasphemy!

Do not be deceived my friends, do not get off track from what is righteous and holy.  Follow the ways of the Lord, stay on the path that leads to eternal life.  Remember, the written word of God is holy, true, and righteous.  The days are soon coming for increased persecution of the church, increased evil, violence and wickedness!

Jesus Christ is coming soon!  Therefore, watch and be ready!  It is commanded of us by the Lord Himself!
