Fathers Day, a Day to Honor our Earthly Father

Most of the world is in chaos, morals and values are being degraded, and gay marriage is on the rise.  The traditional, moral views of what a family should be compared to what a family is turning into is frightening.

The union of a man and a woman is a sacred bond given by God.  It is meant to be the foundation of a righteous family unit, with the father as the head of the household.  This is scriptural, it is determined by God.

Genesis 2:21-24

^“21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. ²² Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

²³ And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

²⁴ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Matthew 19:4-6

^‘4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’⁵ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?⁶ So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” ‘

1 Corinthians 7:2-16

^“2 Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.”

The father is the head of the household, he is the final decision maker and leader, the manager of the family.  This is by God’s design.

Ephesians 5:23

^“23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.”

1 Corinthians 11:3-16

^“3 But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”

While it is true that man is the head of the household, he is also to submit to his wife as she is to submit to him.  He is to love her as he loves himself.

Ephesians 5:21

“²¹ submitting to one another in the fear of God.”

Ephesians 5:25-33

^“25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, ²⁶ that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. ²⁸ So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

The bible tells us to honor our father and our mother.  This is one of the Ten Commandments of God.

Exodus 20:12

^“12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”

Ephesians 6:2-3

^“2 Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: ³ “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

The union of a man and a woman is sacred and holy.  It is given by God.  The father is the head of the household and is to be honored.  This is commanded by God.

Let us take this day, and everyday to honor our fathers here on earth.  Society today has down played the role of the father.  Without fathers in our families, we see the degradation of the family unit, degradation of society as a whole.  Whether they have always done the right thing or not, we must honor them.  It is our God-given duty to honor them.
