Commentary by: Gordon King
Yesterday, Sunday the 8th of June, the day of Pentecost. Almost two thousand years have passed by since the Lord sent the Holy Spirit to believers.
“1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
All filled with the Holy Ghost. Amen! But many unbelievers mocked them, saying that they were drunk from wine.
“12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;”
Peter set them straight. Informing them that this is the working of the Holy Ghost promised to the believers. About three thousand souls were saved that day.
“33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
“41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Peter tells us of what Joel the prophet has written regarding the last days. That the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will be upon all flesh. That men and women will prophesy, see visions and have dreams.
“17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:”
He also speaks of showing wonders in heaven, signs on the earth below. Of blood, fire, vapor of smoke; the sun turning into darkness, the moon into blood before the great day of the Lord comes.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I see many of these things already occurring. I see men and women prophesying, seeing visions, and having dreams. I see signs on the earth and in the heavens, the sun turning dark and the moon turning into blood. I see blood being shed, fire upon the earth and vapors of smoke.
Is it just a coincidence that the Pope, Israeli President Peres, and Palestinian President Abbas met at the Vatican on the day of Pentecost for a prayer between three different religions? Or is it a sign? Is it just a coincidence that a gigantic asteroid named “The Beast” passed by the earth on the very same day? On the same day Los Angeles California hosted a huge gay pride parade with thousands, if not tens of thousands participating. Not to mention all of the other tragedies around the globe, too numerous to count.
Satan is hard at work, he is a liar and deceiver. When God does something, Satan tries to outdo Him or twist, add to and take away from the truth. These are all outward signs of the workings of Satan.
I think whether or not you believe them to be signs or have any significance, you must sit up and take notice. As for myself, I know that they are signs, signs of the closeness of Christ’s return. Signs of the end times.
The closeness of Christ’s return to earth is much closer than we all think. Each and everyday is closer than the day before. We don’t have much time to prepare. If you are a Christian then you need to be prepared now. If you are an unbeliever, than I strongly urge you to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Without Him you will be lost forever, spending eternity in hell. Yes hell. A very real place. Our society has down played the existence of hell and turned it into a fictional place. But, I am warning you that hell is very real. A place void of God, a place which is everything God is not. If you do not choose God, then you choose to be without Him forever.
Make the decision now, before the lack of decision decides your fate forever.
