Christianity in an Evil, Wicked World

Christianity in an evil wicked world

Commentary by: Gordon King

It is becoming much more difficult each and everyday to be a true Christian.  To walk daily with the Lord, to follow in His footsteps.  To stand for what is righteous and true.

There are those in the world seeking to misguide, lead astray, and to deceive.  Those who claim to know the truth, but do not.  Remember, Satan is the great deceiver, the father of lies.  He shall cause many to believe the lies.

John 8:44

“44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

9The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

So not only will Satan attempt to deceive, to twist the truth, and keep the world from receiving eternal salvation, but, God will also send a strong delusion in the end times.  At the time of the revealing of the “lawless one”, God will cause a strong delusion upon all those who do not love Him.  That they will believe the lie and be condemned.

We are living in the last days.  The days of deception and twisting of the truth.  Days of pleasure, sin, and unrighteousness.  The world is becoming so evil and demonic lately that it is almost unbelievable.  Those not seeing what is happening around them are either blind, evil, or in denial.  The evil is becoming intense and at times overwhelming.  Yet, most of the world seems oblivious!  Blinded by sin.

Sin is sin.  When a person continues in a specific sin, that sin becomes greater.  It is magnified.  It becomes more difficult to escape from it, and the person needs more of it.  That’s the way sin works.  It grows like a wildfire.  Out of control, without boundaries, unrighteous, unholy, and evil.  That’s how it is now in the world, the sin is growing like a wildfire.  The sin is being fed by more sin, the lies are covering up more lies.  The world is being deceived and the majority of the people are eating it up.  Nations, peoples, even some Christians are being deceived.

2 Timothy 3:1-7

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

This is where we find ourselves today, in a world full of sin.  Sin which is out of control.  Sin which grows upon more sin.  The world is sinful, twisted, and immoral.  The world around us is becoming more evil, wicked, and merciless.  We are living in perilous times.

In 2 Timothy verse 3:5, it says that people will have a “form of godliness but denying its power”.  This is to say that there will be many in the church who proclaim to be Christians, yet are not.  They shall infiltrate the churches and attempt to deceive.  This is part of Satan’s plan.  These people are in our churches today.  These so-called Christians do not know Christ.  They have never known Christ, yet they claim that they do.  Beware of such individuals and turn away!  For they shall lead you astray.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”

In order to know truth from lies, we must test all things including spirits, as the apostle Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:21:

“21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

The apostle John tells us to test the spirits.

1 John 4:1-6

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”

Test all spirits against the word of God.  Let no man deceive you into believing that the whole word of God is not true.  You either believe the whole testament or none.  Period!  There are some Christians and churches that do not believe the entire bible to be the truth.  The bible is the written word of God Almighty.  If you are a true Christian then you should believe all of it not bits and pieces to suit you needs and desires.  Nor should you interpret the bible for your own needs.  The Spirit of God should be your guide.

The world we live in is influenced either by God or by Satan.  We are fighting against spirits, not flesh and blood.  Satan is alive and well on the earth.  He is real, he is here, and he is deceiving most.  You say that you don’t believe in demons or Satan.  Well, I don’t believe in them either, at least not as I do in Jesus Christ, but I know they are real.  I don’t put my trust in them, but I know that they are real and that they exist.  They are here now, they are evil, wicked, and hell bent on the destruction of man.  Therefore we must be prepared to fight the good fight.  In order to do so we must be equipped with the proper equipment, the “Whole armor of God”.

Ephesians 6:10-20

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

As the world becomes more tense, as nations rise against nations, as evil increases, and the pleasures of man become predominant in society, we must be prepared to defend the gospel of Jesus Christ!  Let us spread the word however we can, whenever we can.  After all, Jesus suffered and died on the cross for all of us, the least we can do is defend Him!

Do not be distracted by the world, by delusions and lies.  Do not avoid or despise prophecy.  God gives us prophecy, dreams and visions for a reason.  It’s not a wise decision to choose not to pay attention.  Watch for signs of the coming of Christ’s return.  Jesus commands us to watch for His second coming.  Therefore we must keep a close watch on what is happening in the world, for the signs which He has given to us.

1 Thessalonians 5:20

20 “Do not despise prophecies.

Matthew 24:42-44

42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.  44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

God Bless and may the peace, comfort, and protection of the Lord be with you!  Amen

  4. Amen! Hebrew for “In truth”. And in truth you speak Gordan.
America and the nations’ deteriorating moral values, SHOULD warn us that something is terribly wrong with the brand of Christianity being preached. One of the reason so much deception is out there is the poor way the churches have communicated the TRUE GOSPEL of Jesus Christ. Through traditions instead of TEACHING what’s actually in the Scriptures. This requires opening the book letting the people read for themselves what’s in it; not letting it be a collector’s item in someone’s shelf. The media has played a big role and another reason, the populous is desensitize to what’s going around them, that people just don’t care. Every media outlet is full of these “perilous times” events as you have stated and still people go about their business like their eternal soul is not in jeopardy. Our Father in heaven has no chose but to judge us for our misconduct. We are his children. He awakens us from our stupor by withdrawing his spirit in these times of trouble and still people do not heed the warning, people are blind… OH Gordon, people like yourself reaching out through the very media that condones, ARE reaching people who truly want to follow “…the truth, the way, the life” of our Savior. It takes belief in Him and obedience. If one truly believes (love, ‘agape’ love not superficial), then following His ways with His grace, one day at a time is possible to stay away from wrong doing. Confession, belief, trust and opening the Bible in prayer is what’s needed, everyday, for every day is a battle, again as you stated. Thank you for fighting the good fight! (And letting me add my tidbit…) I also pray God grants us, His blessings, protection, peace and comfort today and in the times ahead. Always in Jesus’ name.
