Commentary by: Gordon King
The world is a busy and hectic place. There is so much going on today it often seems difficult to focus on what is important in life.
What is important to me, and what should be important to every believer in Jesus Christ, is to stay focused on our commission from God.
The Great Commission
16′ Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.’
Make disciples out of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all things I have commanded you. This includes the gospel of Jesus Christ my friends. We are His disciples.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
15 “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.”
Most of my time, our time, should be spent reaching out to a lost world. Bringing them to salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. This is what’s truly important. Shining our light into a dark, dark world. This does not mean that we should not study and discuss the Word of God with one another, by no means. Christian fellowship is important for the body of Christ.
Listen to God, hear His voice. Let the will of God lead you in your path to righteousness. Holy is our Father in heaven, and Holy is how He sees us. I for one wish to please my Father in heaven. Stay focused, keep your eyes on heaven and things which are righteous, Holy, and of God.
God Bless my friends!
