My Bleeding Heart

bleeding heartCommentary by:  Gordon King

My heart weeps for a lost world, a world full of sin, hatred, malevolence and violence.

But, my heart is bleeding for the Christian world.  A world which should be full of love, peace, kindness, mercy, forgiveness, humility, and suffering for Christ.   Free from hatred, persecution, evil, violence, unforgiving spirits, pride, selfishness and envy.  But it’s not.  Instead, there are too many Christians acting out with these traits. I am feeling the pain, the suffering, the hatred and the discontent from such Christians individually and in general.

Too many Christians acting out against the unbelieving world and the believing world.  I believe this is where the problem lies.  The “World”.  As Christians we are not of this world, but of heaven.  We must stay focused on the things above, heavenly things.  We must stay focused on Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.

None of us are perfect.  I will be the first person to admit that I am not perfect.  But, I am working on it daily.  I am learning, growing, and attempting to be more Christ like each and everyday.  This is what all Christians should be doing.  If we find ourselves at fault against a brother or sister in Christ, then let us humble ourselves and ask each other for forgiveness.  Let us treat each other with love and kindness, whether we agree or disagree.

Remember what Jesus told us in Matthew 25:31-40

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

Jesus is telling us that when you do something good for another Christian, then you are doing it for Him and to Him.  So don’t you think the same holds true for treating another believer maliciously?  If you persecute and belittle another believer, then you are doing it to Jesus as well.  This is something that we must all as followers of Jesus, think about, believe, and practice.

To watch Christians act in ways which denigrate the faith, belittle believers, and discourage the elect, gives me great pain and sorrow.  My heart is aching, my soul is crying out to the Lord with grief and humility.  Lord God, Father of the Universe, hear my prayers.

I pray Lord that You forgive us for our sins against one another, especially our sins against You God.  I pray for all Christians to unite, that You open our eyes, our hearts and our soul to the truth.  To make us aware of the truth.  I pray for us all to come to You on our knees in humility, sorrow, and repentance.  I pray for You oh heavenly Father, to pour out your Holy Spirit upon us all for enlightenment, wisdom, truth, knowledge, and humbleness.  I pray for all of Your children to encourage one another, to love one another, and to bless one another.  Amen

Love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  These are the fruits of the Holy Spirit.  These are the fruits that all Christians should bear.  Without these, we do not have the Holy Spirit working within us.

God Bless you all!
