Quarreling among believers is ungodly

quarreling copyCommentary by:  Gordon King

Quarreling among believers is not only uncalled for it’s unbiblical.  Don’t believe me?  It’s in the bible:

Romans 15:1-2

15 “We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.”

James 2:1

2 “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.”

Matthew 7:1-5

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

James 3:17

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Proverbs 15:1

15 “A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Luke 6:31

31 “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”

Ephesians 4:1-6

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism,”

Galatians 6:1-3

“Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.”

James 4:1

“What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?”

Ephesians 4:32

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Romans 14:1

14 “Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things.”

I know that there will be believers who will argue this with me, but it is not in me to argue, nor will I.  I will listen to my God however.

God Bless!

  1. Some believers often criticize each other based on religious denomination; Catholicism, Protestant, Jehovah’s Witness etc. our Lord Jesus emphasized more on the greatest two commandments, Love of God and Love of neighbor. On that day, I doubt it very much The Lord will ask which religious group we belonged or practiced. But rather how we lived our lives in relation to the greatest two commands He gave to us. And so…’Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the judge is standing at the door’ (James 5:9)
