‘Three booms’, then nothing: Kids slept after murder-suicide, Indy cops say

Indianapolis police say they believe Thomas Emery and his girlfriend, Tamika Jones-Fleming, had been separated and argued Sunday night about their relationship before Emery fatally shot Jones-Fleming and then himself.

In Indianapolis, Thomas Emery shot girlfriend Tamika Jones-Fleming before turning the gun on himself. An 11-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl were inside the house when the adults began fighting at 11 p.m. Sunday. The boy called police at 6:45 a.m. Monday after stumbling upon the scene.

Two young children heard “three booms” late Sunday night — then awoke early Monday to find the bodies of their mother and her boyfriend.

Cops say the act of violence on the east side of Indianapolis was a murder-suicide — Thomas Emery, 27, shot live-in girlfriend Tamika Jones-Fleming, 31, before turning the gun on himself.
