NYPD officers fatally shoot man waving knife in Brooklyn: police sources

NYPD officers shot a man on Hart Avenue in Brooklyn on Monday, November 18, 2013.

The shooting took place on Hart St. in the Bushwick section at about 3 p.m. as cops were responding to a harassment call.

Cops shot and killed a 22-year-old man who was waving a knife in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Monday afternoon, a police source said.

The man, whose identity was withheld pending family notification, stabbed at their car as they drove down Hart St. while responding to a harassment call around 3 p.m.

 Police, who said the man weighed about 300 pounds, got out of their car and walked toward the man, who telling him to “Drop the knife! Drop the knife!”

When the man — who also hurled a bottle at thier patrol car — didn’t drop the weapon, the officers  fired at him. He suffered at least five bullet wounds, one of which struck him in the chest, sources said.

He was taken to Woodhull Hopsital and died at 3:45 p.m., the source said.
