INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for restraining an elderly woman with duct tape and leaving her in an east side basement.

Police said construction workers responded to a house in the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue and heard noise in the basement. When they went to investigate, police said they found an 83-year-old woman duct taped to a chair. Police said she had tape over her mouth.

The woman was taken to Wishard Hospital due to dehydration. Authorities do not know how long the woman has been in the basement, but they believe she was there for at least a day.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS (8477).
