Commentary By: Gordon King
Hello folks, I pray for all reading this post, that God blesses you and protects you from evil. Amen
The bible can be confusing if you just read a passage and try to make sense of it without first reading the rest of the bible. Some of bible scripture must be compared to scripture found in other places in the bible to make sense. It also helps to study the times and culture of Israel during the times of Christ. Also study the Jewish wedding feasts. They correlate to God’s plan for the church, including the rapture.
For instance in Matthew chapter 24, the Olivet Discourse. When Jesus tells his disciples what the signs of his coming will be. Jesus speaks of what the world will be like during his “second coming”, but also of the “rapture” of the church. Two different events. This is where most Christians are thrown off. This is why it is so vitally important to study all scripture, compare scripture, study with partners and learn from biblical scholars. Ask the Lord to guide you and show you the truth.
The first 31 verses of Matthew chapter 24 speak of what the world will be like prior to Jesus “second coming”, after that it is referring to the “rapture” of the church.
How do I know this?
Verse 30: “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
This will only happen during the “second coming”. Everyone will see him coming. There will be many warning signs before this that tell us he is coming. The rebuilding of the Jewish Temple will be completed. The “abomination of desolation” will have occurred. The “Mark of the Beast” will have been implemented. Armageddon will have started.
The rapture will be a private and secret event. Everyone will not see it about to occur. No one will know the day nor the hour of this event. There is nothing else in bible prophecy that needs to occur for the “rapture” to happen. Nothing. Unlike the “second coming” of Christ.
Verse 36-44 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Noah and the Ark, no one knew when the flood was going to come, they were swept away and died. The parable of two men in the field, one taken, one left; two women grinding, one taken, one left. This is unknown, not seen by everyone like during the “second coming”. Everyone will know the time, it will be seen by all men.
The “rapture” is an event which takes place during the season, but we do not know when. When it occurs it will happen without anyone knowing. Christians will just disappear off the face of the earth.
I have written a more extensive post about why I believe this.
Please take the time to read and study this, then make your own conclusions. I have all of the proof that I need. God has given his Word, that is all I need. Whether you believe in the rapture or not, or a pre-tribulation rapture or post tribulation rapture, it is not important. What is important is performing God’s will in our lives. Spreading the “Good News”. Shining our light. Giving all of the Glory to God!
Take care, God Bless and may The Lord of peace be with you and direct you! Amen 🙂
