Firefighters are battling a two-alarm fire at a building on the east side of Indianapolis.
The fire broke out shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of North Sherman Avenue. Smoke can be seen rising from the fire from several points across Indianapolis.
IFD reported on Twitter more than 70 firefighters are fighting the fire with 20 apparatuses at the former Continental Metal Products building. Neighbors told firefighters the building has been unoccupied for about 10 years.
The roof of the building partially collapsed about an hour after the fire started.
Traffic between 10th and Michigan streets in the area of the fire is being re-routed.
