A teenager is in custody after his two younger brothers were found dead in their home.
The 15-year-old suspect was arrested in the Utah town of West Point, after his brothers, ages 4 and 10, were found dead in their family’s home.
None of the boys involved are being named because they are minors.
Police reportedly questioned the teenager on Wednesday, the same day his brothers died. He was arrested five miles from his home, and was bloodied but did not have a weapon in his possession.
Police Sgt Susan Poulsen said the boys died from “traumatic injuries”. Sheriff Todd Richardson had previously said the boys died from knife wounds; police say the killings did not appear to be planned.
They had been left in their older brother’s care while their mother took her other children to a dance recital.
Their deaths come just a week after police in Northern California said a 12-year-old boy had been arrested in the stabbing death of his eight-year-old sister.
Leila Fowler was killed in late April in her family’s home. Her brother first told police an intruder had broken into the house and attacked her, sparking a massive manhunt for the suspect.
But weeks later the boy was charged with second-degree murder.
