Video footage shows Egyptian security forces beating naked man

Footage obtained from Cairo shows a group of riot police surrounding a partially clothed man before administering a brutal beating with their batons and fists, during violent protests on Friday night.

The march on the palace of President Mohammed Morsi in an upscale district of Cairo was part of a wave of demonstrations called by opposition politicians in cities around Egypt, as they try to wrest concessions from Mr Morsi after around 60 people were killed in protests, clashes and riots.

At one point, as security forces chased protesters through the side street, riot police pulled one man to the ground, stripped him and beat him before dragging him into a police van.

A cameraman situated in a nearby building captured the scene, which has triggered outrage amongst many Egyptians and human rights campaigners.
